Too late Ed, he's gone!I vote Alan for moderator, he seems well rounded and liked by all, plus he has previously ran a forum that is far better than this one....
You do need a Ban Hammer. Even if only a temporary / short duration one. Infractions are another method, pop it in the rules...job done. It helps keep use mere mortals in line.*sigh*
Its true - I can't please all of the people all of the time... I just hope ShootClay pleases some of the people, some of the time.
I've had members cancel their accounts today because of the divisive nature of some threads/posters on the Forum - which is a massive shame, as ShootClay is all about bringing shooters together. (God knows we need more unity) The ability to ignore people or ignore threads is there to help people who can't do that filter by scrolling on or moving their eyes past a thread or persons posts.
I have only ever banned one member from the forum - I'm really hoping I don't have to ban more because that goes against my principles about how the internet should work.
I don't know whether to lock this thread, or leave it to become the fertile ground of british humour it is growing into.
All I know - is that we need to get back to talking about shooting, rather than how I handle the forum and its wide range of posters. I am sure I do it wrong sometime, as I was told this morning - but I can only do what seems right to me.
If anyone feels that they would like to be a moderator and join in the fun of promoting good threads, and closing down bad ones (or organising threads in the right places) - then please contact me.
If you want to debate whether I am doing the right or wrong thing, I'd urge you to do it on [email protected] rather than on here.
He wouldn't have liked such an elitist position on this site! Tolerance wasn't a strong character trait!I vote Alan for moderator, he seems well rounded and liked by all, plus he has previously ran a forum that is far better than this one....
