Reading the shootclay blog and noticed this image of some sporting shooters shooting something called Compak? '>

Now I seem to recall we trappies get a bit of stick because we stand in a line, not talking to each while shooting a scheme of 25 targets. Errr...what's the difference?

DT

They're in cages.. Presumably to stop them hugging each other while having such a nice time.

so are trap or sporting shooters the huggers?  Is there only room for one in the cage?  Or are you all into that and maybe cages?  How do you feel about skeet guys?

just askin' ...............

Some differences:

1. We chat with each other.

2. Six traps, all manner of angles and paths for us to negotiate

3. No-one fell asleep

Compak is a FITASC discipline and was designed so that a combined trench and skeet range could be used with a few additional traps to throw sporting type targets.

A lot of shooting ranges abroad are purely trap/skeet with no additional land available to cater for traditional sporting layouts so for them it fits the bill perfectly.

+1I was waiting for you to answer this one. (They probably would not have taken it from me  )

Thanks for the post Phil.

Nice for the sporting chaps to actually understand where Compak came from and what it was designed for...before they all claim it as a sporting discipline.

And for those who may want to argue....can I just say that Phil was the ex President and ex Treasurer of BICTSF and still currently one of the few who are on the 'International' Fitasc technical committee. He was there when it was invented before it ever came to UK.

So don't compare it to sportrap. it is Compak...and throws skeet, trap and some sporting type targets. Listen and learn your shooting history peeps

Note to self :- Avoid Compak, it's just Trap with a different hat on!  :sarcastic:

Shame to ruin a "sporting type" layout by putting in trap targets. That would ruin my day as I can't hit them anyway!

Sporting, Sportrap or Super Sporting, call it what you will, now that's "simulated game shooting" and good practice for the real thing.

Disclaimer - this post is my feeble attempt at humour in the rush before work. It is not an attempt to alienate myself to the Trap Shooting Community, although I feel it may be a little too late for that already!

Errr...my original post was not intended to incite any discussion on the origins of Compak. It was a simply to highlight that some hedge monkeys take the rib out of trap shooters for standing a line, looking serious and not speaking to each other for 25 targets at a time...just like the picture really.

Let's not get into a discussion about going away targets...please!

Perhaps Compak Shooters are really transvestite Trap Shooters pretending to be something they are not??

If they were "proper" Sporting shooters you would be able to see the smiles on their faces and they would be talking to each other!  :sarcastic:

(And at least one of them would be wearing camoflage or wellies!!)  :prankster:

Its for people who don't know what they are (bit like voting liberal) as in not sure if they are sporters or "proper" shooters.
