I had a full set of Optima chokes drop out of my bag over ten years ago which never turned up (so basically nicked), totally agree with the above which has always amazed me. The hassle and possible loss of certificate alone means I never have the gun out of my sight and will only lock and leave it in the boot of a secure car, I've been known to leave one at the club house before now rather than inside a car.On the subject of trust amongst shooters, Its amazing really that you see some people dump their gun and rest of kit outside the clubhouse and go inside, cup of tea and a BAP and then return hoping to find thousands of pounds of kit still there! My whole attitude has changed completely sadly and will operate differently at shoots from now on where kit is concerned.
I 'm thinking I should have made that "sportsmen" rather than limiting it to shootersIt is always so amusing that the jolly brotherhood of shooters is such a pack of thieves. Unbelievable theft rates of anything not chained down at gun shows. When I was selling I prided myself on being WAY alert and still some ahole made off with an old old Brit gunsmithing book. And it's amazing the things that go "missing" at shoots. Even the occasional gun.
funny old world, ain't it?
Aha....but you shoot a very posh gun, probably with engraving by Michaelangelo or someone! I dare not leave my gun anywhere, someone would end up using it to install fence posts!!! :laugh:I never ever leave my gun anywhere unattended not because i don't trust other shooters but because of other none shooter thieving low life scum that may be loitering about.
Agreed Steve, particularly in the Winter. I often arrive at my local shoot, nobody around and who knows how many £££'s of guns and other stuff just lying around, whilst as you say the owners are inside the clubhouse. On the subject of trust amongst shooters, Its amazing really that you see some people dump their gun and rest of kit outside the clubhouse and go inside, cup of tea and a BAP and then return hoping to find thousands of pounds of kit still there!
