Love the look of a SbS but everyone says get a O/U aaarrrhhh

Hi all, i have finally bit and sent off for my certificate.





I love the look of sbs but everyone is telling me i would shoot better with a o/u, thing is if i have nothing to compare against wouldnt a sbs be fine ?





Use wise would be 70% clay and 30% game i understand looking down a o/u would give a better sight but surly i would just get used to the sbs view.

Would 1 of each really confuse my shooting ? should i stick to one or the other ?





Finally i like the spanish guns are AYA or Ugartechea both ok brands.

Depends what sort of clays you want to shoot. If its just a fun 50 at the local club with your mates on a sunday go for the SBS if thats what floats your boat. If you want to start competing at cpsa registered comps I would go for the O/U. Main reason being they are heavier and soak up the recoil of 100 shots in not much time.

Cant really go wrong with a nice AYA if SBS is the route you decide to go down

I personally would pick an O/U for 70/30 clays/game.

Choose a multi choke if you can.

Depends how far you want to take your clay shooting.

Its really going to be a bit of fun and enjoying friends company who are also getting there certificate, not going to go into comps but never say never if i enjoy it that much.

Ive read about sbs getting hot etc but i keep thinking what did people use before o/u's .

ive found a few aya's and also just seen a william powell sbs which looks lush but is at the very top of my budget

if i was going to get a o/u ive seen 2 i like a beretta silver piegon and a browning b725 but im struggling to see why the browning is worth 500 more

Is there a set rule to chokes or is it personal preference ?

Have you a mate that is into shooting at all, that could guide you a little. Advice on here is good, but not as good as a face to face conversation. What about your local gun shop, have you tried them for a little friendly advice. If it's any good they will be delighted to help you on your quest to find a gun that "fits" you somewhat.

hi i,m using a 1974 eibar sxs on the clays and have used sxs since the age of 10,,i,m 47 now and have tried the o/u,s but much prefer my sxs and to be honest i,m also holding my own against the lads who i shoot with,,i myself prefer sxs but it really is down to personal preference,,, i think if and when i,m ready to enter the comps( next year i hope) i will defo change to an o/u,,hope this helps,,,bobby
