Went over dartford today and shot 100 shells and not a single miss fire new box of shells and gun had been cleaned since the last use so can't put it down to either but it seems to be ok now thanks for the replies everyone
Try to make a point of say, every 6 months (or less, depending upon the use) remove the stock, then the firing pins ONE at a time. Clean each pin and it's housing, SMALL drop of oil and replace. The bottom barrel pin has a return spring in the housing, the top pin is 'floating'. It is worth buying a suitable pin punch to do the job with too. It IS a simple job to do and saves the likelihood of any misfires.

Being a Browning and the bottom barrel specifically, my guess is that there's gunk in the 'channel' guiding the bottom firing pin, which slows down and gives a lighter strike. For some reason the bottom suffers more from this than the top pin does. Could be any debris really but likely dried up grease or even a faulty spring if it is a new gun. If you do find a lot of gunk, I'd question the latter assumption.
It is because in a browning the bottom firing pin is set at an angle. The pin for the top barrel is not at an angle.
