anyone got any views on miroku trap guns - the new one being mk38, once held in very high esteem.... what do people think on mk38???

there is another thread (how good is a miroku )on this make of gun in general discussions in case you've missed it which could give you a lot of opinions to your questions :eek:k:

Mk38 , 3800 , 6000 , 800, all good and are still being used by a good few trap shooters!

Think that is something of a cult gun for trap shooters!
I like that John, "a cult gun".......brilliant!  Back in the 80's and 90's Mirook trap guns were used by a vast amount of people in all the trap disciplines, even Ian Pel used one to win an OT Olympic medal in the 2000 games. These days it seems as though they are mostly used by old farts like me, probably because many of us started off with those guns a long while ago, the younger lads are in some cases, totally oblivious to the track record that Miroku have in trap shooting. It's sad but it's true!

Well you know guns are not that different to many other things in life. But in the case of guns, as I see it anyway, the trend is towards the thought that if you use what the current top shooters are using then you are almost there regardless of ability! However its the man/woman behind the gun that counts in my opinion and I would say that if you took the current top trap shooter and kitted them with any gun with the same weight dimensions as their current Perazzi, Beretta or whatever the outcome would be very similar. Fashion and the notion that using the same equipment as a champion is so how going to make you a better shot is the belief, its laughable really!  And of course when you are on the stand there is the shear elan of the perfectly turned out shooter with all the gear! Again only my opinion

At least if you copy a top shooters choice of weapon you know you are not buying a bag of spanners.  Whether or not it fits and you can shoot it is another thing, but at least it won't be a crap gun.

I have to agree with that however can you really call a Miroku, Browning or CG a bag of spanners? I don't think so! They are all very well made guns in fact I ask for an example of a £2.5 - 3 k gun that you can really call a bag of spanners?

I think you can lower that limit considerably - from what i can tell there are very few 'bags of spanners' produced nowadays at any price - certainly above the 1K price point.  Miroku, Browning and Guerinis are all used by top shooters, if you had zero knowledge about guns you would not go wrong by getting one - I don't think there are many too many top shooters using the cheapest of cheap makes - although if they did - they would still out perform me.
