whatever happened to the monte carlo stock    don't see many about these days   I like em  head up  nice and straight etc  ,  fashion ?   the price of guns we should be offered a choice of styles

A few about but not many. I have an MX12 Monte Carlo gathering dust in the cupboard and its lovely to shoot with.

Ha ! ha !

A very good point, I think we have far too many new 'experts' who know far more than us golden oldies.

I would think that 95% have never shot a gun with a 'Monte' and of course with the advent of adjustable combs it may be said that 'Monte's ' are redundant.

Interestingly , have many of you seen guns with adjustable combs with foam, cardboard , and electrical tape wrapped around?

I have seen a good few including a few shooting school guns set up the same?????

I have also noticed the vast numbers of competitors who have 'grazed' through Guerini's, Blaser, Zoli, Krieghoff , or whatever only to be seen later with their old gun.

Les,

That is because Krieghoff didn't know how to make a stock until they brought out the Parcour, whose stock is a copy of Haggis Hartman's West Country Guns' alternative wood which was copied off a Miroku ( all allegedly true :???: ).

Yes, many earlier Krieghoff's did have a Monte Carlo style stock.

Les as a matter of interest , have you bettered your scores with the K gun? compared to the Miroku !

Come on Pete, keep up. Les now shoots a MX2005.

Pete, I no longer have a k80 mate! I've had neck problems for some time and I'm trying this head up lark, seems to be beneficial. So I'm using an MX2005, very high stock and very high rib. As for Miroku, well it's unlikely that I will ever better the scores I shot with a Miroku, I'm a lot older now too, so I'm going for comfort these days Pete!  :D

Same gun i started with 3 years ago

the gun is perfect, its the one behind the stock that needs to improve .

:santa:

Everyone !

Sincere apologies for not realising that Les now shot yet another German abortion !

But he will eventually realise the error of his ways and bring out the Miroku as his last salvation.

Please , please , please all of you get a grip and listen to the famous words of my anorexic good friend gorgeous George Digweed.

Adjusto combs are not really the same as a monte carlo.  I have four adjustos and they all have the top of the pad at different heights relative to bore center and I can switch them around on the same gun and when the comb is set to the same height relative to the rib they each feel very different.

Gun fit and a comfortable stock are maybe more complicated when you realize all of the variables beyond LOP and comb  height and how they can  have a noticeable effect on your shooting.

just sayin' ................

Dr. Lecter,

George genuinely did say that , and if you plot his career you will see he has shot very very well with Miroku, Browning, Parker Hale, Beretta , Kemen and Perazzi + I would think many many more.

I would add that he is a very loyal ambassador for Perazzi who recognized his ability and talent and have reaped the benefit of their association with him.

What is the amount of money spent on Perazzi guns since George started to win with one???????

Pete me old mate, I'm using a Perazzi!

On my K80 Pro Sporter, I converted it from a standard #3 stock to being a parallel soft comb.  The same sight picture, no matter where your cheek is on the stock and less felt recoil.

Hey, works for me!
