Thinking of investing in Muller or Briley Helix chokes. I've seen the Briley Helix in action and the results look pretty impressive. Any opinion on a comparison between the two? Are they really worth the investment? I shoot sporting so any recommendation on a good combination would be grateful, I currently shoot two half chokes in my DT10.

Muller, much easier to clean ! And go for a U2 U3 combo

In my Opinion, Chokes are alot like cartridge choice! A personal preference!!

The chokes you have are more than adequate for the job, Changing your chokes will not guarantee your scores will improve, Briley's are no better or worse than Mullers which are no better or worse than teagues which are no better or worse than the factory supplied ones!

Then again you may want to change just for looks!! :) :)

Change if you want to but the liklihood is you'll not see any meaningful performance improvement over the standard chokes.

The only difference in real terms between those two and your optima chokes is weight, Helex are heavy Muller are light optima are some where in between...either the Helex or Muller will change the balance of your gun slightly one way or the other.

Borrow some and pattern them, see what suits your gun/cartridges better, then make a decision on whether or not to buy them, it may take a bit of time to track down someone with the chokes you are interested in but gotta be worth a try cheers Growl.

If you really want to improve your results put the cash you would spend on fancy chokes toward a few hours with Ed or another good coach. It's usually a much better return on investment if you adjust the nut on the back of the gun rather than fiddle with the bling hanging off it.

On the other hand if you just fancy something that looks cool pay your money make your choice screw em in and keep on doing what you do.

Which ever way you go enjoy.

I can vouch for a few hours with Ed he will also put you right with chokes

Mind set is a big part of any sport and clay shooting is no exception once you have decided you want new chokes then your better off getting it out of your system Mullers are as good as it gets two number 2's or the same combo as me 2&3 once they are in you can forget about chokes knowing no more improvements can be made  and get on with other aspects of your shooting, However Mullers are very light so be aware it will reduce weight at the front end especially noticeable when the gun is moving if this bothers you then you may have to add some weight back somehow although I do believe Mr Solomans had some custom Mullers made which are heavier then standard good luck either way  :pickeat:

After patterning Optima versus Muller, the biggest difference was with cheaper shotshells. They cheap stuff patterned denser with Muller. The Muller chokes made both the DT10 and DT11 a bit livelier a shotgun due to less weight on the snout. In the DT11 they shot loose while not in the DT10l???

I spoke to Ed about his mullers and they are custom made to his own spec, heavier than the bog standard also his gun weighs 11 or 12 lb, heavier than most also, but have you seen the biceps on the boy !!!!!

He has to burn off his surplus energy somehow!

I have a full set of Briley Helix and was really happy with them until I tried Mullers and found them much better. The Helix now stay at home.

The general opinion here is that the Helix things are snake oil......   Something about the claims defying the laws of physics.  I'll right up front cop to not GAF since the only chokes I use are those things that came w/ the Perazzis from the factory.  OK, there's a 682 in the safe as well but all it has are factory tubes too.

I guess I need to get out more and be exposed to more BS personal like.
