Indeed. However i have been trying to "rationalise" lately and have sold/part exchanged some.

I now have my clay gun and two game guns - a Beretta 20b with 30" barrels and a Beretta 28bore with 30" barrels. Shot the 20 at a local shoot yesterday and was probably 10% down on my normal score and that with 1/4 & 1/2 ans 21gms cartridges.

Very annoyingly, I did a corporate clay day at West Kent on Friday and shared my mate's Beretta Light, 12 bore, that I sold him eight years ago. It is fixed choke and 28" barrels and i shot as well with that as i probably would have done with my 682 Gold E with 32" barrels.

I must have spent over £11k on guns since selling that gun!

A bit of a coincidence I did the same thing yesterday.my first shotgun was a winchester 6500 sporter 28" which I still have but not used for at least 12 months(I normally use a 32" gold e) anyway I got the winchester out of the cabinet to have a look at it and there was a bit of rust in the chokes and in the chambers so I gave it a good clean.and I thought I will have a shot with it ,so took it to orston and shot 85 which is better than I have shot for the last few months

The law says that any goods you buy from a trader must be:

  • of satisfactory quality
  • fit for purpose
  • match any description given.
If  they aren’t, you normally have the right to return the goods and get all your money back. This is called a full refund.

This right only lasts for a very short time after you buy the goods. You’re allowed a short time to examine them and try them out, but you must tell the trader about the problem as soon as you find out about it.

a similar thing happened to my 687eell I bought it new and a couple of weeks later I could not open it the safety was locked after about ten minutes it opened I took it back to my dealers who sorted it the next day because he has a gunsmith on the premises it was all down to a small part that is fitted because the American safety people insist on it serves no real purpose but can cause this problem.it has been fine now for the past couple of years a fantastic gun in fact perhaps it could be that yours has the same thing.as far as I know Essex gun does not have its own workshop so that is why you are having to wait for gmk.hopefully it will not be much longer and you can enjoy your new gun for many years to come.

The Winchesters were great guns, nice to see that you still have it and use it!

Well, spoke to the RFD today and Beretta are experiencing delays at present due to "the warm weather". The normal 2 week delay for repair has stretched to 5 weeks and they only test the guns, following repair, on a Wednesday. Make of that what you will.

Still, I am promised the gun back on 14th June. Fingers crossed.

Warm weather !

Yes that will allways delay a gun repair it is common knowledge.

What a load of tosh.

I reckon you have been very patient, I would ring a day or 2 before the 14th, seeking assurance of the guns return. At that point if there at all wishy washy it'l be time to get the rottweiler out. Good luck with it.

This is a good example of having a good relationship with a local tame gunsmith. Last thing i had done took 5 mins and no charge

Aye, love them or loathe them if it had been a Krieghoff, Mr Rhone would have turned it round the next day for you.

Angel.

Does this mean that the person who perhaps tests the gun at a range only works on a Wednesday or that they only test repaired guns at a range on Wednesdays!

It must be worth asking the question as otherwise we might be leaping to the wrong conclusions.  They obviously have no idea about customer service.  Clearly they are making so much money from being the Beretta sole importer that they can afford not to care much about customer service!

They could do with a kick up the arse from Beretta to say pull your socks up or we will find someone else!

I must say that i have had quite a bit of dealings with Gmk for warranty repairs purchase etc and they have always been very good.

Believe me GMK are not alone ,Browning are just as bad. It appears that over the last few years the service from both of these company's has deteriorated. The BWM situation is in no way helped by the strange distribution/sales set up that they now operate.

I think I'm correct in saying that Beretta own a slice of GMK so can't see the situation changing much there either.

That is quite depressing to hear in this time of what should be enhanced not deteriorating customer service!

I would suggest that if the problem happens again and you manage to get it open again, you might hold off on loading and closing it again.

just a thot

Can't imagine what it is that the US safety bozos would want that would twist up the works.

Charlie

Charlie,

Anything that as US involved gets clogged up, it's called bullsh*t.
