Hi All,

I've recently moved to West London, and looking for some recommendations on Shooting Grounds, where there's a nice friendly atmosphere.

I've grown up shooting, although not as regularly as i'd like, with all disciplines including Sporting, Trap and Skeet.

Previously, I've never shot competitions but this is something I'd like to get into, however at the same time, I enjoy shooting practice rounds with a good atmosphere.

The closest ones to me look like :

AC Sporting Targets

E.J Churchill

I'd be grateful for any recommendations.

Cheers,

Danny

Hello and welcome,

I am a member of AC sporting targets - very friendly bunch. Churchills good and also just before AC you have West London Shooting School - practice rounds ESP and lessons - don't have to be a member and the odd competition there - fitasc series at the mo mid week - look at website. A1 shooting ground for ESP practice and OT and UT -'shocking at geography so bingle it.

Hi,

The two you mention are both good in different ways. I find AC sporting targets a good training ground, but perhaps a bit less friendly if you go on your own until you know people there. It's got a bit of a regulars feel. But very useful to practice certain targets. It's all Fitasc and Sportrap style.

EJ Churchill is very good if you are on your own as they will take you round with a caddy, who can chat and advise. Also nice clubhouse. A bit dearer, although if you go a lot, become a member and recoup the cost and more. They also hold monthly CPSA competitions, this Thursday in fact, plus their Churchill Challenge which runs until end of March I think. Call 01494 883227

Horne run a shoot most Sunday's, near J8 M25.

Enjoy

How much is membership at Churchills.
You can find it on their website. It is a few hundred quid, but if you do a caddied round every week or lessons the cost savings come in overall. Discount in shop goods too, plus some other benefits. It doesn't help you with competition prices however.

Thanks for the great replies guys!

Interesting comment regarding the Churchill membership. Anyone know the costs without membership?

Have a look on their website, but I think it's £50 for a personal caddied round of 100 clays, or £37.50 for a member. The Churchill challenge is a good 100 bird course for £40. The 100 registered shoot is £34.50 targets only. They have Wednesday Thursday shooting that is £6 for 25 clays STR or Skeet or £17.50 for 50 sporting. So something for everybody.
