:)) really got the bug... was hoping for a sport with little travel and fun/no pressure... suspect this isnt it!
Yeah but you will really love the challenge of trap. Perfection needed (wink). Let me know anytime you fancy a few rounds at Owls Lodge (Tues or Thurs) as it is has a great background.

winchester... not so far away so might time with work.....

It is not Winchester (unless you mean that you are in Winchester) it is down the A34 to the A303 (bullingdon cross) and then just a half a mile along the 303 towards Andover.....to the first exit.

ah, i did a v quick bingle and looked near winchester

Cheers for that Jon, it's a shame there isn't a skeet layout closer and cheaper otherwise I could really get into it, father in law has a miroku skeet gun I could use.

I did also try DTL which I thoroughly enjoyed, Out of the 3 local grounds I use 1 has DTL and 1 has ABT.

Cheers,

Tom

I had a really good couple of rounds tonight (only my second outing).

First round I missed 4 targets, the second round I missed 3.

4 of the misses were on platform 4. I think I was going it too much lead.

But I REALLY enjoyed myself!!

Can someone clarify the routine please?

I know that 1,2,6,7 are all doubles and you shoot the going away bird first.

But there are a few things I'm struggling to clarify and find that different sites have different explanations.

Are all singles shot as high house first?

Station 8 has two boxes, which do you stand in for which target, and again is it high house first?

Then the 'optional' shot, do you redo your first miss AFTER the other 24?

Thanks!

National Skeet

Station

1, single high, single low, pair- high target first

2, same as 1

3, single high, single low

4, single high, single low, pair- your choice which target you take first

5, single high, single low

6, single high, single low, pair- low target first

7, single LOW, single high, pair- low target first

repeat the first target missed during the round.

If nothing missed then you choose which single target to take as your 25th target on station 7.

Station 8 , not used

Station 8 is used in Olympic Skeet and NSSA Skeet

the 2 squares on 8..... stand in the furthest one from the trap that your shooting, high target first

Thanks very much Bryan.

Never realised there was a double at station 4.

Much appreciated.

Also don't forget to nominate verbally which you are going to shoot first on S4, not really important in practice but a good habit to get into should you start shooting registered comps.

Jon.

When shooting the double at S4, if shooting the high house first, where abouts would you aim to break the first target?

Hi Owen, where is the target when you break it as a single?

I'm certainly no skeet shooter, but not too shabby at it. when I do have a bash S4 I like to break whichever I nominate as 1st bird just before the centre peg.

rule of thumb......... single targets and first target of a pair, on or just before the centre peg . Too early or too late is no good as it causes different problem's with the second target.

Could I ask where the hold point and visual pick-up points are for the high house at station two and three?

I'm having great difficulty with these targets and don't feel comfortable with my starting position which I believe is leading to the misses.

Many thanks.
