I've just got myself a Browning B25 A1 27" skeet gun. One owner from new in 1970 and it came in the original Browning cardboard box along with the two factory pattern test sheets. It's choked 8 and 10 thou so nominal 1/4 and 1/4. It's a little tatty and could do with plenty of TLC in the timber department, it's been covered with varnish complete with runs and brush marks.

It's trigger pulls were 8 and 8.5lbs which have now been regulated down to a more manageable 4lbs.

Will have it out on the pheasant shoot tomorrow to see how it performs.

:fie:  I remember them well, I bought a new one for £209.00! super gunm when sporting started  in a big way in the S West they were used for sporting and done the job well! but a lot had the chokes already honed outas they were too tight on the skeet range.

These old cheap A1's are the ones the gun dealers want. They send them to Belgium and get them customised, change the wood , custom engraving etc, for a pittance by out workers of the Browning factory.

They are then sold by gun dealers over here for a fortune.

There are two of these at William Evans (Boyo) £14000 ish.

My friend, who I run our game shoot with, has a factory customised A1 32" trap gun converted to a game gun. It's had a narrow game rib fitted, highly engraved sideplates, new wood with a three piece forend and long teague chokes. Looks the dogs but I'd be nervous to have it, I'm getting clumsy in my old age and would be forever knocking the stock etc.

I previously owned a 1973 B2 trap gun that had a long trigger guard and mechanical triggers, the one gun I really wished I hadn't sold.

Despite the A1 I've just bought being older it's got a short trigger guard and inertia block triggers, that surprised me as I thought all the old B25 guns were mechanical triggers and had the long guard.

Long tang, 1973, mechanical trigger [click, click]

The C3 is a '72 trap with mechanical trigger

The A1 is a '70 trap with inertia trigger

The full long tang looks like it couldn't fit on a pistol grip. Note the '70 still has the sidepin on a one piece forend.

The Brownings with the pin through the forend are early models up to the early 70's maybe 71 or 72? but 73's are "modern" guns with mechanical triggers. The action on the 70 trap is slightly different.

Interesting that Mr 40up has all these beautiful guns and yet as far as I know not a single Beretta. Come on Mr T get your act together and get an SO for us to have a play with. Thanks in advance.

That is because there really 'is' a limit for people of taste

I have to think that the "taste" referred to in the matters above could only be questionable in nature.

There is a certain comfort tho in the lack of mention of the k-word guns and the "taste" term in the same sentence.  A sort of de facto "lack of taste" situation as it were.

Rosso - envy so ill becomes you.  I can only barely imagine the sartorial desolation that you must feel knowing that not only does the style exceed your limits but that you haven't even the climate for it should you somehow manage to rise to that level of cool.

You can take some comfort in knowing that you have my condolences   :preved:

Dealers don't always secs them to Belgium they get done here by gunsmiths too... Often ending up as none matched pairs....
