Went to Northampton to shoot the Oxon County Skeet in a howling gale, shot an 82 not to dissapointed for my first 100 reg skeet. targets were like roller coasters. Anyhoo Boring bit out of the way.

When we were shooting the skeet we noticed some people shooting black powder on the next layout. Finished our skeet and ordered some burgers then had a wander down to have a look see what was going on. There were about 20 shooters all using muzzle loading black powder guns on their version of dtl. Basically an abt trap locked off straight and throwing mid height. 5 stands in a semi circle from level with the back edge of the trap house about 10 yrds back.

There were all sorts of gun on display, percussion cap hammers in single and double barrel and a few flintlocks as well. Making lots of big booms and loads of smoke.

Lovely lady called Claire spotted Mrs Fuz and asked her if she would like to have a go with her 15 bore single barrel, of course Mrs Fuz jumped at the chance. Unfortunately she missed her first bird out, but Claire said come and have a go at loading it and then you can have another shot. She just knocked the left hand edge of her next shot, much to the delight of the assembled crowd.

A really friendly bunch of people who meet every other Saturday at Northampton and also shoot skeet and sporting at Lakenheath with the smokey boomers. For more info see here http://www.mlagb.com/ and here http://www.lctc.co.u...rs-suffolk.html Claire said they were practicing for European Championships in, if I remember right, Germany later in the year.

Some video shot on my phone (forgot my bloody vid camera)
