Somehow my understanding is that my rifle bolt needs to be locked away separate from rifle however a friend who I snoot with said there is no need to do this. Is this correct?

It's such an easy thing to do it makes sense regardless of whether it's a stipulated condition, which I don't believe it is.

agree with hammy, I thought it was when rifle was being transported ie in your car etc. But could be wrong.

Ok great, I have a bolt carrier that clips on to my pack so the bolt is only with the rifle when in my possession and not when locked in cabinet or in transit.  Although I lock ammo and bolt away together in separate compartment to gun it would be less likely that I forget it if left in pack (which is in separate cupboard elsewhere) obviously ammo is always locked away.
