Hi Wonko

Have to say your authentication carries a bit of credibility :) If you draw a simple analogy of a door lock then if you depress the handle and draw the bolt back on closing rather than pulling the door closed against the spring it makes a lot of sense because the bolt will wear with time if used this way. I hear what you are saying re my buy .. not seen the lock up on that but I am hoping it is, as we say in the UK, a "minter". I say this because I have seen another gun the guy has for sale 20g B25 it is Forty four years old... don't think he took this one out much but I am hoping he is just fastidious with his guns and the Perazzi will be the same, take a look at the action. Will post a few photos of the MX8 when I get it you can give me a heads up from afar.

Strangely enough that’s the exact opposite of the advice I have read for the DT 10, something to do with the top bar not locking as good causing it to shoot loose. So the advice from the Beretta gunsmiths at the factory was to close it without holding the leaver or it causes damage.

I have no idea of the authenticity of this just read it from some who went to the factory.

Timps

I too have read this in relation to the Perazzi, firmly but gently not slammed shut is said to give a better lock up. I think it is hair splitting to be honest but who knows? To each their own? I don't even have one so it does not effect me yet.. and might never.

Never slam ANY gun shut! Also no need to hold the lever either, the lever should only be used to open the gun not close it.

I would agree except for Beretta SO sidelocks! because of the limited amount of wood in the actions and narrow pistol grips never slam a SO shut or you will have a stock in one hand and the action and barrels in the other
