Well we all have our opinions BUT if I am in a competition I want to know I am shooting exactly the same targets as my fellow competitors otherwise IMO it is not a competition. That for me is where UT and OT are far better than ABT but it is a more expensive competition to set up because of the trap houses and traps required. To reiterate though and I think the lack of facilities highlights it the main problem in the UK would appear to be that trap shooting is just not popular enough to generate the talent conveyer belt required to produce the world cup champions although as I have already stated I think they do well with what they have available to them.

Each to there own John.

But if I could only shoot one discipline ever again I would choose abt. My mate says if they cut me in half I would read Beretta abt like a stick of rock . ;)

With modern electronics and control systems there is no reason why ABT cannot be made a uniform target discipline.

Maybe that is what is proposed for this 'new' discipline?

Yes maybe Greg I for one can't wait for the full story.

You know that would make a huge amount of sense with the motors etc that we have available today it should be possible without to much problem the table could even by hydraulically operated to change elevation and angle. It would cost for the development but if there was a format internationally accepted and a championship set up it could be a go'er .

Absolutely!  Some time ago I mentioned that very thing.  A few micro switches and a well written program could easily equal the schemes and fairness of the 15 machine setup.  60 year old technology does not have to be the deciding factor, tho the IOC certainly seems to regret the passing of the middle ages.  I mean, c'mon folks, it's the 21st Century!!

It's already been done guys, you can get one trap that will simulate an entire OT scheme, only difference is it wouldn't need to move between different locations in the bunker, you would just program it to stay in central position.

Think I saw that set up Jake. Correct me if I am wrong but was that the set up where you queued up to shoot the targets ?

All it needs is a new chip for any OT or UT layout and you can play it anywhere.....

Watch this space for a new game coming soon....and not just one trap

John

You are correct but the queuing thing only happens if you want to use it in OT format. For ABT the trap would sit in its central location and simply adjust angle and height for each shooter on each stand. Might be a slight delay between shots as the trap positions itself but that could be easily overcome by having a 'ready' light on each microphone stand.

Time delay would not be a problem for me DT I take about 7-8 seconds to close my gun and call for the target.... the French guys hate my slow set up :)

7-8 seconds would not be considered slow in UK tell em to Pee off :)

come on Nic "cracher le morceau" will this new game appear in France?

And on shooters who like Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddooooooooooooooommmm

Teaser! :)

Strangely enough I would not want anything changed re UT. I don't know if the shooters down here would either.

I refuse to join in on any subject that involves ABT.........as most will now, I have a rather large soap-box to stand on over the subject!

It is not about change John...it is about more choices for shooters.

One cannot always stay stationary can one

The joy of shooting is new things to try.

Not a lot of people know that

Most think the earth is still flat
