Perazzi MX12

£1200 sounds like a relative bargain for a UK sourced stock of that quality.

If you are worried about the stock cracking; then maybe stick to the MX12 action in preference to the MX8. The MX12 does not have a removable trigger unit -  so there is more wood in that part of the stock.

The down side of that is that the MX12 has coil springs as compared to the MX8's leaf springs..........But the trigger pulls on my MX12 are absolutely fine.

If it must be an SC3 then you are limiting yourself to  a much smaller pool of possible guns than if you considered std grade/SC2/Mx2000/GD etc etc models. Given the variety of specs available (viz my earlier posts) it will be a miracle if you find a used SC3 that is EXACTLY what you are looking for. No harm in trying though.......

There was an interesting one (SC3) available privately on Guntrader a couple of weeks ago -  but it did have very light barrels. I havent checked whether it is still there.

I like an SC3 with the No.100 scroll engraving. That is about the limit of what I can afford.  Alternatively, an MX2000 with silver action would probably fit the bill.  If I have to wait for the right gun then so be it. This won't be a gun I want to change in a hurry.  I doubt that the extra crispness of the leaf springs on an MX8 will get me many more targets.......I have far more fundamental issues with my shooting than just the trigger pulls!  I would prefer a more robust gun like an MX12 if possible to get more meat on the stock.  There is a used gun on guntrader currently that meets my 'requirements' but at £8950, it is a little overpriced.

Cheers for that.  The L just has a plain silver action I believe?  I would have one of those with the right Barrel length and rib etc., 

I have a general Perazzi question here if I may?  What is the difference between an MX2000 and an MX12?  I know the MX8 has a removable trigger unit (which I won't have a use for).

I'd love one with a '100' engraving too ! But new they are around £ 12k I think.

You might find one well used and down around £ 6.5 -  7.5 if you are really lucky.

Clever's suggestion of an MX12L is a good one -  £10k new at Chris Potters. And you could have it to your exact spec, maybe even including the stock !! That would be worth a try as it would save you the £ 1200 for the add on custom stock.

or maybe you could go to C Potter and ask for a new MX12 with NO woodwork ?? Not sure if Perazzi would do that though.............. Again, worth a question,

The 'L' has a simple diamond shape of scroll in the centre of the sidewall. I used to have a Perazzi 20 gauge with that engraving. Look at Chris Potter for clarification.

You can get a std grade MX12 with a silver action for the same cost as a plain black one. That is what I have.

An MX2000 is an MX8 with detachable triggers and leaf springs. An MX12 has coil springs with non-detachable triggers. A 2000S is an MX12 action too by the way.

Hi everyone!

I have a quick question regarding Perazzi foresights.  I know of a lovely gun that has the white coloured foresight.  It is a sort of round shape when you look down the barrel. From the side, it appears to sit in a square holder? 

Question is this.  Can this be replaced with a Brass Bead, and if not, where can I find a smaller alternative?  I like the smaller sight picture you see.

BOUGHT A SHINY NEW (USED) PERAZZI!!

Just thought I'd let everybody on here know that I have found a gun and bought it.  That was all down to this website and the really great help from all of you Guys'n'Gals.  A wonderful chap on the forum Wylye had a gun for sale and I went down to his shooting ground (Wylye Valley Shooting Ground), and had a round on the 100 bird sporting.  Great ground with lovely people scoring, and shot a very modest 54..........that I was happy with.  The hospitality was great and Ian was an absolute gentlemen.  I shot the Perazzi with a complimentary box of Mirage competition shells and the gun was pretty much what I was aspiring to. 

Thanks to Ian for all his patience and support, and for everybody's genuine input and help on here.  I take receipt of the gun in about 2 weeks so I will post some pics of me looking childish with it then.

This is a massive thank you to Ian Stones from Wylye Shooting Ground!

This wonderful gentleman drove all the way up to the midlands from Somerset yesterday with my newly purchased MX12 SC3, in rush hour traffic to hand deliver the gun.  Ian is a true gentleman in every sense of the word and I can't thank him enough for his patience and honesty.

It's a 32" but it feels like a 30".  It moves faster than my Mk38 thats for sure.  It shoots high for me (I patterned it last weekend), so I'll have to shoot a load of shells through it to get used to where it is compared to the Mk38.  I found that the Teagues 3/8ths choke was quite tight as well, which is great.  I shoot 1/2 choke both barrels on my Mk38.
