goups of people at club shoots that are never ready to shoot when its there turn,**** around getting the gun out of there slip finding cartridges and then have a chat between every pair.usually wearing tweed and flat caps...group of 4 takes longer to shoot than the 15 deep queue behind them.

oh and i can gaurantee that they have no idea what a cartridge bin is and they seem to get a little upset when you chuck the cartridges back at them that they just ejected over you.

the next time one dinks my gun i swear i am going to lose it!!

Pet hates, that's easy. Sporting shooters on a trap line. Usually just after they've told me and anyone else that'll listen how easy it is.

They always leave a little quieter than they arrive!

my lists are well documented so to make things easier I will post things that are not on my "hate list"

nope cant think of anything.

:D  You're not wrong. Perversely I quite like seeing Skeet and Trap boys around, especially watching them walk off a stand having missed an average years fill.

Trap shooters who stand there looking very serious staring at the ground whilst twiddling their pop pops the right way round for 10 minutes with gun on foot then calling pauuuulllllllll hitting the bird first barrel then fire the second !

Trap shooters who moan about being hit by semi empties because the cannot dodge them fast enough.

Trap shooters are lovely. Leave them alone. They are like footballers who will only take penalties though..

Whining trap shooters.  Particularly the ones that think they are somehow special and whine about everything from the state of the grounds keeping and up.

There are a couple other things as well but I don't want to slip outta the "just a lovely person" category I've worked so hard to get into.

I'm a sporting shot who has shot 100/300 in DTL how many trap shooters have ever shot 100 straight in sporting ?

winging trap shooters are my pet hate

For me it's the large groups of people with all the nice shinny vests, caps, badges, umbrellas etc which all seem heavily branded.

They step into the cage and start a half hour long ritual of heavy breathing and gun mounting and cartridge playing, you think here we go I'm going to be witnessing a real pro in a minute.

they then proceed to miss all the targets and then have a discussion with there mates about where the were on them etc whilst still standing in the cage, completely obvious to the 20-30 people who have amassed and are waiting to shoot the stand.

This is why I don't go to many club shoots anymore.

Its funny,

for a nation who is used to  & supposed to queue in an orderly fashion, its surprising how  *rsey some fellow shooters get if someone jumps the queue!

I was at a shoot some time ago where somone walked up to the scorer, to deposit there score card, as  apparantly this was what they did at there shoot.

Talk about pour petrol on the fire.  it got very heated and ugly...  because the  local "protocol" was not observed ...

That aside, my biggest wind up, is cartridge chuckers!

I can understand if your on a pheasant drive, on some godforsaken moor with no bin handy,

but there standing in a cage, in a field, with a bin right next to them!

I bet they'd get the hump if we were to visit them, and drop empty drinks bottles on there front room carpet!

:santa: :) x

Actually that does remind me. I hate it when a scorer has maybe only 2 cards on their clipboard, but if you try and hand yours in they won't take it until they have none left. Jeez, it's not hard, just stick them underneath. Call the name of the next shooter clearly. Just before I step in the cage I want to be thinking hard about the targets, not waving my card about.

My biggest one , and I have many is shooters who grade a shoot on their own personal score , too hard too easy , enjoy it flolks it's not all about f***ing averages they are a by product of you shooting over a period .

Shooting a registered competition and then waiting ten days to find out how you did...

4x4 drivers who didn't do the off-road driving course and churn everything up...

So called "gunsmiths" who are in fact bodgers...

Gun shops who fail to understand the term "best" in terms of English guns...

Traps loaded with pre-broken clays...

Magazine reviewers who insist on using the term "engraving" when describing stamping, laser etching, rolling, or similar embellishments...

People who squirt oily cleaning fluids into the striker holes...

Fried eggs with the white still transparent...

My wife's dog at 2.30 this morning...

I broadly agree Steve, but until they introduce my grading system (based on your placing rather than number of clays hit), the focus will always be on the score. That's just the system. Again, you are right that it evens out over many shoots for most serious shooters, but on the day, the number of clays hit is hard not to dwell on for many.

You looking to start a war or what Greg?

I hate being on a layout that is littered with empty shells. I also dislike being on a line with an auto shooter to my left.
