Pigeon shooting 2013

Well the game season is over so that means it time for me to get back out on my favourite bird of all .. Wood Pigeon .

Was going out this morning to check rape fields but never got there as I could see plenty of birds on the move over one of the woods from my kitchen window. A nice steady flight line was working well so of we set . Got to the wood and grabbed my gun and cartridge bag and stood just inside the bottom edge to see what was happening and suss out where to stand . After a few shots and a few in the bag the birds switched a bit , so it was time to set up the magnet just in front of the wood to pull the birds in for a closer look ( didnt set decoys out ) and bring them over the corner of the wood where I could get some decent shots on them while stood with my back to a tree and it worked a treat .

A pretty stiff wind was blowing with bright sun ( which was a pain at times) and rather chilly .

Took a young lad out with me today from the farm and I think he rather enjoyed it as the total bag was 121 roll on next time if the birds are still about .

Yep I got alot about its just getting under the buggers! !! I bet your trigger finger iching mate, you must busy working ground down and drilling I would think....bet your be on pigeons on new drilled ground. ?

Well done Robo,sounds like a good day,and a lot better than mine,went to try out the new semi auto,but nothing about apart from a few crows, hopefully the farmer is seeding his barley in the next few weeks,can't wait!

Yep had a bit of sport on some clover coming through....cleaned the cobwebs of my 288 bore too..

 Nice bag there, clover coming through grass can be surprisingly productive.

Going for a look for some sport today, been watching a flight line that's been busy for a couple of days hope they are still running it today !
