Shot what can only be described as a very soft 50bird shoot. There was a lot of loopers, normally don't have a problem with them but I miss read them completely, there was a lite fog and to me they looked further away than they were i shot in front of everything, most of the birds needed a foot at most I was giving them 3-4. Regardless of the fog iv done this numerous times when faced with a softer than Normal shoot. Any tips for reading birds with no background line is not a problem distance is very much so

I use a basic sanity check when unsure. For crossing clays at medium speed, I see about a foot of lead for every 10 yards distance away..

Thanks will. I really need to work harder at this. I normally don't plan my lead just go with what feels right during the swing. I usually put about half the lead on a bird during the mount and stretch to what I think it needs. I was really shocked by how little was on them

Try to see where the trap is or where the clay lands. Ask yourself two questions, where is it going and what is it doing, slowing stalling of falling away

Thanks mark but on this occasion it wasn't possible they were appearing out of the fog. But I'm guilty of not doing what you stated all the time and it costs me all the time
