Safe Storage of Cartridges

Just caught the backend of a morning tv programme involving insurance fraud.

Thames Valley Police raided a premises and took away amongst other items , three shotgun cartridges , quarantined and awaiting disposal by the armed response unit just in case they were 'live'.

If we are not careful , with this sort of care in the community, licence fees could go up to help the Police in their costs to uphold our safety.

At the end of the programme a statement was made "none of the occupants of the premises were charged with any offences."

Errmmm, poses an interesting point.

On the few occasions I get out rough shooting, all empties are picked up and when home dropped into the recycling bin......... Does this mean I could be causing multiple armed response call outs to said recycling centre ?? :fie:

actually as typing this I had another thought (not too bad for a Monday)  interested to know what people do with their 'dud' cartridges i.e. the ones that the primer had been struck, didn't go off for what ever reason. Often I've seen them dropped into the waste bin with the empties (At clay shoots) what about those on game days?

I have them in a hidden pocket so that i can offer them to one of my competitors...if and when they ever run out of cartridges.......in a competition.... :wink:

Well i am going backwards at the moment.....on this sporting lark...!!

On the subject of Duds I just chuck mine in the waste bin on the stand, if the ground send them for recycling then they go off in the shedding machine (safe) if the ground burn their waste (naughty) then they will go bang and do no harm.

What if they were "live" no restriction on possession of section 2 ammo................ ITs like the police turning and taking a litre of petrol in jerry can away for "specialist disposal"............... or a tin of lighter fluid.

After the bin lorry had been, my recycling box was covered in red and white tape marked as 'Prohibited Waste' and left full up! Also big sticker stuck to side telling me error of my ways! If there's one thing you definately shouldn't do, it's piss off your bin men!!

They have the power to make your life a misery in a matter of weeks!

I have done the same though, I thought cartridges would be recyclable?!

Last time i dropped some in the recycling the bag went IIRC but the sortign station may well have been shut down for several days while they investigated......

Well that's me done for.... if I lived in the Cardiff area that is. Just about everything that shouldn't be in there gets put in................ Doh  !!! TBH, never had a sticker on the bin I guess they like me :haha:

Out? Out how? I'd like to see the court case following a refusal to remove your refuse. Bloody trumped up council prats!
