Challenging course set out by Gerald Stewart @ the Dell on Sunday's Scotish sporting championship, as reflected in the scores!!!

Great targets that had to be worked for, (there was no gimies), sunny weather, stunning Highland scenery, little wind and 100million midges!!!

HG Stewart Cumming 85

R/U Colin Will 84

AA Stuart Donaldson 79 (well done Stuart, Scottish sporting team captin)

Me, well.......eh, 50

It was a very, very long day and I can't remember many other scores, got up at 4am to milk my cows and never got home until 9pm........work today has been a pain!!! (almost as sore as my score!!!)

Hi Darkside - i know a few of the Shire boys who shot this and i know that if Colin drops 16 birds its a very tough shoot! Gerald lays on some BIG targets and the wind up there changes constantly. If its any consolation its broken me a few times too - its a bit too good for me im sorry to say - but like the masochists we are i go back for more :.:

I hope Gerald is doing ok as i haven't been up for a good few months and he's not been too good with his health the last year or so.

Almost no wind, very deceiving targets that were hard to read. Some looked strait forward until you missed them!!! There was some stonking birds, one stand had a fast crossing 45yd battue that showed full face at its peak for a second followed by a fast driven teal 40yds to the left of the cage going strait out parallel to you, I shot all of the battues and dropped 2 teal for 6/8, probably my best stand.

The Dell didn't break me, I had beaten myself before I got there!!! Tired, had my 2 boys (6& 8) with me and just could not concentrait on anything.........my mum got word on Friday that she will get a double hip replasment on September 10th, as shes a partner in the farm this forced some very difficult decisions abut the farms future (our farm, like many farms has a VERY complicated inheritance structure) my mind was on other things (farm related) that I could have done without happening ever, let alone the night before the Scottish champs!!! I honestly can't remember shooting 3 of the 12 stands, I must have shot them on auto pilot.

Gerald was in good form and looked like he was enjoying hosting the Scottish championship.
