Had a go shooting after a 10 YEAR LAY OFF. Sadly my body has declined and forced me to abandon any comeback, sad days. My mind thinks I am 21, but my body tells me I am 67, which is correct. I will have to reflect on past glories instead of creating more it seems.
I wouldn't give up after 1 try, i am 25 and went shooting yesterday woke up this morning with a painful shoulder and side even my legs were achey. Until muscle memory sets in i am guessing this is going to happen quite regular until i get into the swing of things. Don't forget, you are using lots of muscles you wouldn't normally use so dont knock it on the head just yet you have plenty of go in you yet believe me. i was shooting with a cracking chap yesterday over 80 and he was shooting fine, probably more healthier than me. :D

ha, rob is a top bloke ?

your body will adapt quite quickly. ?

When I was younger nothing, including several trips to hospital and a stint with a colostomy bag!

Now I very rarely shoot, do lots of game shooting but clays I need to have time, inclination and decent weather. I get paid to stand out in it all weathers for coaching which I have no issue with. Just getting wet and cold to have a shot does nothing for me.

I've learned very quickly not to go shooting just because it's Sunday.

If I don't feel particularly well or if it's hammering down with rain then I see no shame in staying indoors, I'm also lucky that I do shoot a fair bit so never feel like I'm missing out.

Have to really feel up for it these days. Especially with the rising costs, I cant just go out half halfheartedly.

So I have taken the winter off as well which has conveniently coincided with a change in jobs.

Back out at the beginning of April, so advanced apologies to anyone who has to witness me shoot in what I'm sure will be a somewhat erratic/haphazard style*! :(

*some will say "no change there then"

Well I look forward to seeing you around and about.

Last Saturday went to bed at 9 with eyes and nose streaming uncontrollably  :D :brr: stuffed full of paracetamol, had already texted mates to say even if I made the meet up car park they'd be better off in going in a different car to mine   . Got there before either (had to wake one up in fact who'd forgotten to set his clock forward) - shot well below par and nose still feels like a lump of driftwood. I enjoyed the day immensely and couldn't keep away.

SNAP, except that it was Sunday  !

When its raining I tend to think about the poor buggers who are out at 7:30 to set the shoot up in all weathers. Luckily I don't seem to suffer with feeling the cold like others appear too, so that doesn't bother me.

So far my general health has been pretty good, but I really feel for those in the earlier posts who are now struggling physically. I am pretty sure that will be me one day, not one I look forward too.

I did miss a Sunday shoot recently, but that had more to do with Saturday night than any illness.

Shot the Welsh selection shoot at St Dials in Monmouth, a lovely day and some cracking targets, yet I didn't do it or myself a whole lot of good.

Felt like sh*te and shot even worse. What have I learned...  not to shoot when your ill, so the gun will stay in the cabinet until I feel better.

Hopefully it won't be too long :???:

To be fair, walking up the first part of that hill is enough to make anyone feel a bit puffed.
