I was wondering  if everyday prescription glasses could be used for sporting shooting  at clays ,   say Oakley's ?    any ideas .

I would question the impact abilities of standard Glasses when hit by a piece of broken clay traveling at 50mph! my advice would be a big NO get yourself some proper protective eyewear that have passed ballistic testing various makers have a prescription option.  :prankster:

I've had to go over to prescription shooting glasses and bought a pair of the Zeiss models widely advertised in the shooting media. They are great and I would highly recommend them.

I have a pair of "normal" glasses and then my shooting glasses seperate. I couldn't shoot in my regular ones

The 'sweet spot' on my shooting glasses is in a different place to my driving glasses, as others have said you need something to protect your eyes from bits of broken clay.

I've only ever shot in my regular prescription glasses, I know I ought to have prescription safety glasses but I dont. Is it possible my scores could increase with proper shooting glasses??!!

Last year I decided to try contact lenses and bought a pair of ESS Supressor safety glasses but didn't ever get round to trying the combo out. Mainly because I had a real job getting the blasted lenses in my eye, no problem taking them out and wearing just the putting in!!

Haven't ever noticed a 'sweet spot' so to speak, just sometimes feel like I need more glass above my line of sight.

I did enquire with the opticians up here but none of them did any prescription shooting glasses.

I know you can buy online but is that recommended or do you have to get an optician in the know?

Forget the "ballistic impact" nonsense any EN rated lens will do fine safety wise.

Just ask the option for some Dennis Taylor's with safety spec lens.

PS Oakley do meet the EN spec for there plutonite lens

I found that normal prescription glasses restricted my peripheral vision which was a real pain on Skeet H2&3 and some Sporting pairs. Ed Lyons is well worth the cost and hassle of a trip, at least then you know your whole visual system has been given a thorough check by the best.
