Any of you gents attending the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this coming January? Thought I would go and have a look around. If you are maybe we could have a pint or two??

Do you have a FFl or is part of the media? Otherwise, it is a no-go!

I've been a couple times but likely will not bother again.  For me, not having a related biz to attend to, the thing quickly hits the mind numbing level of Too! Much! Stuff!  But for me, most trade shows are like that - the "who cares" element coming to the fore.  And precious little changes year to year.

However, about the same time the Antique Arms Show is on at the Riviera. ( http://www.antiquearmsshow.com/ )  Substantially less expansive but more to the point for most folks.  And piles of totally cool shotguns at the sporting arms section of the thing.  You too can fingerprint $100K guns hahaha

just a thot

As long as you are in some way part of the industry. Trade shows serve two purposes...to meet with buyers and to network...in my case it is the latter.

I have to admit that handguns are but a tiny part of my existence.  However, the whole principle of the right to ownership is quite another matter.  Honestly, I often wonder how you folks manage to shoulder the nothing less than oppression and vilification that the anti's foist off on you.  The incessant enforcement harassment...   I mean, we have some real problems here as well, but nothing approaching what you have to deal w/.  But, rest assured, the pols here will tolerate gun ownership only as long as it is politically expedient - then we'll get screwed just like you are hahaha

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

We don't have an oppressive gun ownership enforcement/harassment; hand guns apart it is possible to apply for just about any type of firearm be it sporting or target oriented. It is true it takes more than 3 days to process and you do need a reason and access to appropriate land for the type of gun you wish to possess but this is hardly unreasonable?!

You have to remember there is a vast difference between countries such as Canada or the US with their unending size compared to the UK where a willy nilly freedom to possess guns will lead to random and frequent accidents resulting in injury and death and with it the inevitable restrictions and loss of sport for the true enthusiasts.

More doctors kill people here and across the pond than firearm owners or users! The exception are Mexico, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Afganistan. Funny, they hjave the strictes rules against firearm ownership!

Mr. Hamster, I have to tell you that I would consider your arguments in favor of gun control to be absurdly spurious.  Your trekkers have virtually unlimited access to anywhere in your country so that lets psychopaths roam freely in the countryside raping, looting, and murdering.  God knows what it would be like if they had guns TOO.  Is that what you're saying?

Please, gun laws have proved to be an inconvenience only to law abiding citizens.  You need only look at the places where strict laws and passive courts rule the land.  Say, like where you live, or New York State, or anywhere.  Responsible gun ownership and use do not necessitate gun control.  the history of gun control is people control and has nothing to do w/crime or its prevention.

And Yet you all do nothing to stop the masked avengers who beat up old men for fishing and terrorize hunts.

Sorry about the semi-rant.  Some topics are just, well, not usually open to simple facts contrary to imagined ones.

Charlie

Hi Charles,  :)

I'm not in favour of gun controls, just against lack of any. The fact remains we have the right to buy and use most firearms but for a few weeks wait and land to shoot on. I'm not really clear what you see as the problem over here?!

Hamster, you really do talk pish some times!!!

Wonko, have you ever read "Unintended Conciquences"?

Hi James,

But you're the perfect example of the fact guns are available to those who want them.  You're annoyed you had to get a licence or what?

I'm with hammy on this one! Think there is a middle ground somewhere. I think both countries don't have it right.

Where did all this horse sh*t about beating up fisherman come from?

I'd like to see some bell end have a pop at me when I'm dangling. They'd get filleted......

Hamid,

No, you are an "example of the fact guns are available to those who want them" I'm an example of  guns being availible to those who NEED them as part of their job/life...your sole purpose for gun ownership is for SPORT, clay or feathered, I on the other hand actually have a NEED for most of my guns, ranging from vermin control right through to putting a cow with a broken leg (bottom half spinning like a helicopter tail rotor) out of its missery A.S.A.P. !!! I take offence at your insinuation, even though I have very little respect for your opinion. I have no problem with holding/applying for a licence, what I do have a problem with is the "over the top" process and rules that are applyed to try and put people off of applying/renewing their licence!!!

Restricting the amount of rifle ammo you own or buy...bullsh*t

Having to apply for and justify sound moderators...bullsh*t

Resricting auto loading shotguns to 3 shot unless they are on a F.A.C...bullsh*t

The restrictions police try to add to gun licences...bullsh*t

Having to apply  every time you want to change rifle caliber...bullsh*t

Handgun ban...bullsh*t

I have a life or I would continue this list all night and yes Ed, there is middle ground, we are very far off the middle...

James - can you dial down the aggression a bit? There really isn't any need.  Thanks. Matt

Nice to see the warmth in here tonight.

I still cannot get my head around NY .....it was confusing last time it was explained to me. Even some of my pals who go through there argue about the rules.....??

Thanks for highlighting that awful collection of words... You got the gist!
