Just back from Ian Coley's shooting ground where I was fortunate enough to be invited to a preview of Phil Coley's new venture the 'Shotseer ' camera.

Well it is not actually just a camera it is a complete packaged training aid. Phil will explain if asked.

All I can say is Wow , Wow , Wow, what a brilliant piece of kit.

I think that if it is packaged (which I am sure it will be) correctly and used CORRECTLY it will be fantastic.

The reason I used capitals for the above is that any training aid is only as good as the coach who will interpret the information fed back to them. But this will take away the guess work and introduce the test work, work that will test your ability and improve you immeasurably. I noted that there was interest shown from delegates from another country who seemed VERY interested.

The pictures had amazing clarity and we were able to see the shooter set themselves up for the shot and execute the shot or miss and then analyse frame by frame including the influence or not that the wad had to the shot cloud.

That was just the camera lense and programme, but further features were monitoring of various aspects such as heart rate, breathing, eye focus etc., etc.,

I remember when this sort of technology was introduced into F1 we poo pooed it but look where F1 is now?

All I can say is get wise, embrace this new technology and invest in it. Because mark my words if you don't you and I will be left behind.

Thank you Phil for the golden opportunity.

No reason then why you won't be shooting for England soon, as well as many others. The kit sounds brilliant, experiencing it must be quite awesome. I've been looking at a camera recently, but price is just too much. If coaches are to get the best out of a camara based aid, go for the full Monty.

The lottery of camera`s is cost, but moreover what they actually achieve. If you want to just video you shooting from a gun position, then get a headcam camera is the cheapest option, but the downside is looking down onto the gun. If you want to see where you hit or miss then look to a range of camera`s or a barrel camera, the downside is the frame per second - I have strapped a camera to the barrels of the gun, but the muzzle flip and gas expelled can mean the shot is lost on a slow frame rate. Also I want to point out for my system it is not a camera, it is a software system with a camera that means you can see the shot take place, it is activated by the "pull" or the bang, you have a barrel alignment tool, plus you can show two camera angles at once, so a viewed angle to see headlift, that a barrel camera would miss.

Shotseer also then has add on`s such as a range of biometric measurements, which is aimed at the higher level shooter.

However I will be offering the following in the coming weeks:

Barrel Camera system - just to record shots, nothing else, but it will fit on the barrel of the gun and you store to an SD card.

Heart Rate Monitor pack and Handbook - recording and showing heart rate, plus the vital handbook for you to know how to use the data to be of use (so 20 years of my research and feedback for you to use).

Shotseer (as partially described above) - so a camera and shot feedback system, coupled with biofeedback upgrades.

Everything we have made is mainly made in the UK and assembled in the UK, lenses are sourced in Germany (they make the best lenses), so the product is made from the best materials, not the cheapest, plus comes with a full warranty and support. I am happy to be open on prices as I believe there is no need to shy away from it.

Costs:

Barrel Camera - will be approx £299

Heart Rate Pack and Handbook (remember I am the only person in the World to have done comprehensive research and published work on psychophysiological attributes in clay shooting - so the Handbook has huge value) - will be approx £149

Shotseer has a starting price of £1495 for the entry level. There are 3 more levels and then lead upto the full suite including biofeedback (you will need to be trained on the top level system, as the general coach will not understand the system at all - it is like trying to give someone a surgeons knife and expect them to do a heart transplant), the top level is £6k plus training and support - but it is aimed at Elite training squads and international shooters.

Please ask away or email me for more details and interest of products - remember everything we offer has been built specifically for you as a shooter, nothing we supply is purely off the shelf.

Hi Phil,

what comes with the camera at the price shown? I suspect there will be an instruction manual. Can you give us some detail regarding compatibility with PC editing programmes. I'm sure that there are others who might be interested in the camera on it's own as I am, at least as a starter.

Hi Ian, I presume the reference is to the barrel camera not the Shotseer camera system itself? I will provide the detail on the Forum in due course, but in simole terms it will be recorded to an SD card then can be played with a standard movie player on a pc, such as Quick Time or Windows player. Phil

Many thanks Phil, look forward to hearing more. I'm interested in the barrel camera to give me more options as I shoot video as a hobby. The high FPS is very interesting from an action point of view.

I suppose I'm looking for details of the specification and versatility.

Ian.

Us trappies use a similar thechnique..............bloke no 1 shoots, bloke no 2 stands behind bloke no 1 and pretends to know exactly were bloke no 1 missed this could be in front, behind or even left or right, there are endless possibilities. Its all good fun particularily when bloke no 1 goes home in a more confused state than when he arrived.
