I am aware that the board are having a skeet meeting prior to the EGM.

Does anyone know if this is just to discuss the ref shooting issue or will it include other skeet issues??

If anyone has any information please either post here or pm me.

Thank you

Simon Hill

Just remind me......who currently on the board knows skeet or shoots skeet........?

Oh yeah......no one......

That should be a great meeting then...!!

Si....is there any such time as a skeet sub committee who report to the board? If so what have they advised? If not....then you need one!

Hello Nicola

From the British its clear that the board don't shoot skeet. One of the those in attendance thought it was a health and safety issue for the nets being in place so as to stop clays going onto the other ranges.

Sub committee is an excellent idea and something I will be moving on....

Thanks

Simon

There apparently is a sub committee but I believe the East Mids Rep (Colin Butler) has never been invited to any of the meetings.

So we have no director and no representation. Really feeling valued as a member!

Hi Julsey,

Well if we have a sub committee they are certainly very quiet and clearly not concerned at the CPSA's handling of the British Open and the direction of Skeet in this Country.

I'll make some enquiries.

Thanks

Simon

Question is - can any CPSA member attend and have a input to the discipline they shoot?

Myself as a dedicated skeet shooter (pretty much) obviously have an interest in the results of this "meeting".

Kate Marsden is apparently attending so she would be a good point of contact.

Colin Butler IS going to the meeting so probably best to go through him as he is our regional rep Simon.

right folks before you all get your nickers in a twist the meeting is only to discuss skeet reffs nothing to do with the skeet comiteeeee ok

Nearly two years ago Bob Kibblewhite got agreement that there should be discipline specific committees to advise the board on rule changes and issues related to the individual disciplines. I was nominated by the West Midlands Region to represent them and a rep from each of the other regions was apparently nominated. Since then despite numerous requests no meeting has ever been convened, this one at Crick will be the first. I don't know for sure who all of the other regions are represented by.

So far as I know there are no proper terms of reference drawn up for the operation of these discipline committees and as with so many other things no proper process to bring about their work or any outcomes from it.

The DTL group has been pretty active chaired by Bob, they have considered a number of issues and rule discussions and as a consequence the board agreed some changes - then after plenty of work and thought by a group who know and shoot the discipline and an agreement to go with their recommendations - a few complained and the board turned their work on its head and rescinded the changes they had introduced. Encouraging isn't it. No process - no progress.

Right now we have a board that with a few exceptions wants to function as a shooting committee and not direct the running and development of the association and for that reason so many things are in such a mess. Any good directors we do get are only interested in staying for a single term as it's like trying to knit fog getting progress on any proper board level business, little wonder there are so few looking to step up to the plate and take it on.

Anyway, back to the point - you can expect that I will be asking prior to this meeting questions about terms of reference, process and of course specifically any agenda for our discussion so that I can be properly and suitably prepared.

Rest assured, I will happily share any enlightenment that comes my way. Don't hold you breath on it though.

Paul

Thanks for clarifying matters. As recommended I'm not holding my breath but am eternally hopeful!!

Cheers

Simon

Great post Paul, with support from the board and people like yourself this can only be a really positive step. Good luck and looking forward to hearing about updates :)

I wish you the best.

Bob was not the one to ask for discipline committees....it was asked for before his time.
