So there I am on stand 7 on my way to my first 25 round of skeet ( I know it's not that big a deal for you seasoned shooters), all I have to do is shoot 5 more from possibly the easiest station.

Pullllll, $%^* missed the easy low bird !!!

Damn it.. why was I thinking so much about it ? What on earth was on my mind , then I go on to hit all four more  :suicide:

One damn miss  :banghead:

I once told someone I have never been the competitive type, but this skeet is ruling me at the moment...

Haha I know the feeling. My PB until yesterday was 22 and as soon as you clear stand 4 the magic 25 pops into your head and you start to overthink things. Yesterday I managed a 24 missing L6 in the pair so not quite as bad as your late loss on L7 single. However I managed to follow it up with a 25 the next round for my first straight so I was well happy.

My shooting buddy then informed me that its tradition (american possibly) for the other shooters to shoot your cap as a memento. I agreed this only to see a group of 7 shooters arrive behind us and my mate invite them all to join. Needless to say my cap got peppered.

Happens to all of us matey, I did it a few weeks ago in the Express on the way to 25 and I've had a couple before :(  I've spoken to quite a few skeeters that have done it in their last rounds for 100 straights and even missed H or L7 for their option to leave them on 99!!!!

Advice I have been given is just relax, and don't snap at L7, its better to let it run and make sure you have a good visual sighter of it. If it comes out low or you have a huge adrenaline rush there is a big chance of shooting over the top of it.

Don't sweat it and it will come. When it does you will find after that the jitters go away a bit as its nothing new. Another bit of advice I was given is always take H7 as your "option" to make the 25 you can see it for longer and if it does something funky you have time to adjust.

You will get it, bit of patience and don't try to force it :)

Well shot yesterday P1, good to chat with you and the good lady :)

Haha. I walked in the house with it on my head and at first my wife didnt even notice. When she did I said other guys gun went off my mistake but I'm not hurt. Cue a confused look until I burst out laughing.

Did you manage to get out with the 692? GMK reckon end of July / early Aug for mine :(

....excellent....

Not yet unfortunately, such a lot of stuff to do around the home and in the garden at the moment, doesn't look like I'll get out today but I'm going to take a look at what registered there are nearby tomorrow, then if I get through what I need to today I can sneak off in the morning.

Sorry to hear about the delay on yours though, I'm sure I read somewhere that GMK have one main delivery a month from Beratta and its normally early in the month so if that's the case it might be worth hassling your dealer then? What do you have on order, is it a 32" adjustable?

30" left handed adj stock. Not sure on the start of the month delivery as the 32" all appeared mid May.

Hey Wez, I'm just about to write a blog post that will make your day :) Basically, this afternoon I shot straight round to station 7 shot both singles and the pair on 7 so 24 ex 24. Nominated High for my option, pulled the trigger and "click" called misfire kept the gun down range etc ref asked me to open the gun to my horror I realised I had loaded the single shell in the top barrel when I shoot bottom barrel first  :growl:   Option bird lost without firing a shot. Schoolboy error :(

It's easy to do, you start overthinking, following the clay etc then miss, especially on 7.

I used to shoot L7 VERY quickly with a static gun; very impressive when you get it right but not consistent. I now hold about a metre to the right of the peg which forces me to take my time and move the gun. went from a 75% hit rate to 95%+.

chuckling about it now I've got some wine in me but big lesson learned. Change of pre-shot routine to load bottom barrel first straight after that round

Ps, Just read on FB that welsh Ken had similar at the English open today. lent his gun to a squad mate to finish the round when the squad mates failed and the barrel selector must have got knocked during the handovers in the round and on his option "click" it was set top barrel first :( Looks like Ive started a worrying trend :(

It will all come together in the end and when it does, 25s will come more regularly. You must work hard to the finish, "it's all in the head"

I remember my first straight I shot singles on 7 then as I killed the pair I walked off the station telling all the squad that it was my first stralght.only to be told about the option luckily I hit it.

I would have just loaded both in the normal way, or is there a rule I don't know about ?
