Martin (I like to give him a rub) Myers got 115 when I was leaving clubhouse.  Only a few still to come in after that.

He really is a legend! Turns out he was a clear winner and only two people out of 170 exceeded 90%

Westfield was a tough one today!

I tried to take the advice on board and I think it helped, but I still got brought right down to earth in the special way that Westfield does.

Managed 66 out of 120 which I'm actually quite pleased with as that's my best % score at the venue.

Was messing up a stand (platform with simo white going away) and was on track for a blank until HardFocus gave me a pointer on the hold point so was able to at least get three of them. It's picking up tips and making them work that makes the trips and mental beatdown worth it ?

It felt like there was an emphasis on game targets today? With the simo R-L driven and then the 'grouse butt' (stand 4?) and the various teal targets. Seemed like a nice last hurrah to the game season.

Looking at the scores there were some cracking results. It was certainly a day of learning and being in awe when watching the A's and AA's shoot whilst waiting.

Doveridge for us. Tough affair. 147 entries. Hg 90. Only 14 shooters at 80+.!!!! Regulars say it was worse ( harder ) than THAT English open.

Good variety of targets. Enjoyed it.

Shot quite well today at a fairly tricky layout at Churchills.

Messed up on the pair of rabbits, and the sim-pair away with 4/8, and really messed up stand 7 with the long looping crosser and quartering/curler with 2/8.

The rest was just the odd one here and there, happy with my shooting though.

:)  Very good shoot today at Churchills with great company of Paul Finney and Will Hewland, couldn't believe so many people out for a mid week reg ! The leading score was 95 when I left which was rather respectable as there were definitely a few quite missable targets out there, not unhappy with 87 myself as a good many of my misses were high left to rights so a matter of poor method and lead I feel. There were 4 different rabbits and a good variety of most other birds but oddly no tower or Teal.

The only thing I'd personally have changed was the floppy crows and slow/dead targets, I know you need a few every one can hit but sometimes they feel like a waste of a shell.

I doubt very much that they would ever again put on a course that had two stands that would attract as much negative comments as they had at "that English Open", I like near 200 others memory of said shoot are marred by those stands.

R Draper and M Stevenson both on 94, I am sure I saw 95 on the board  though !
It was. Must have been altered to the master sheet. The 95 did come after the shooter discussed his score with ref later. Maybe it got changed back again

Only the shooters that couldn't hit em were negative. Don't hear the winner complaining.....

Less than 10% of shooters broke more than 80 at this shoot.

Don't think I recall seeing your score on the board.??

And I reiterate I enjoyed it.

from memory quite a few of the 800+ at said English Open expressed concern, and you are correct I didn't get to this last weekend so shouldn't have commented / compared the two, I'll get back in my box, generally I find we all enjoy shooting however difficult we find it and yes when the ground hosts the EO or BO one would most probably visit again to make an fool of myself.

Very enjoyable morning at Weston Wood. Cold to start but was pleasant by late morning.

People were finding it tough but I had climbed out of the right side of the bed and hit my best Weston score on 91. I had missed 4 on the boardwalk long sim pair (which also cost Martin Myers 3 I think) and was otherwise just missing the odd one. My last stand was up the steps, the pink quartering targets. Smacked the first six then lost one after a slow buttoning. Then I was frustrated and missed the last one too.. Happy overall.
