Due to a total lack of reg shoots anywhere near, I went to Valley View. Lovely weather. Self buttoning and overpriced, but a good layout on lovely land. Good targets actually, with a huge deceptive effect on me making me miss a lot in front. Lots of midis with not much speed. I definitely don't apply myself properly when it's not registered either.. Pleasant morning out with mates though!

shot a 73 at podimore dropped at least 10 through lack of concentration and not repeating what i had done to hit them in the first place.

some great target presentation and some quite different ones as well, really enjoyed it a great start for the reopening.

one pair looked really simple with a standard belly flopping into a gap in the edge and a fairly standard teal....amazing how many were missing the first almost on the end of the gun, thankfully i only dropped one.

pretty busy but hardly any large queues, congratulations to Don and his little helper

place had to work hard for everything shot a 90 which I was pleased with

keep up the good work team podimore more of the same please

I can't fault either shoot today, both good grounds and good courses with lovely weather.  Started at Doveridge and moved on to Kegworth.  I shot both badly, too tired from a busy and late Saturday to give of my best which isn't that brilliant to start with!  Long journey home though.

Tough reg at Greenfields, shot poorly for 84, missed a load of birds I should have hit   HG was GD on 94 allegedly.

On to 125 all round at Dartford GC which included 50 Super Sporting / 25 DTL / 25 Compak and 25 Skeet, tons of people there, great organisation and really good Super Sporting targets. They also had a mental 20 bird Snooker running for two days which had a 75 yard crossing bird

You had to be there :p  it may have been more but doubt it was less.

how big a lead on that at 75m?

was it  10 seconds,, or shorter than that ?       or maybe 7 ft,, or was it 8 yards?

just having a bit of fun mate,, i also have the same t shirt,,,,,,

:D

I only hit it once when I saw about 10 ft after that kept doubling the lead like a mad man which didn't help.

Shot  Doveridge

I thought it was tough.

Sun effected a few stands.

Really tired at the end dropping 16 on the last three.

Finished on 71.

HG was 95 I think.

25% away from HG isn't a good shoot for me.

Aimming at 10% from HG as I'm not bothered by the score as a CPSA average.

it must have been slow to only see 10 ft. if it was at any speed i would see 25 =30 ft possibly more
It wasn't particularly slow but I generally see less lead as I tend to have a fast swing through, very difficult to articulate something you just can't hit consistently enough.

this would make a good thread on its own, we all see `lead` differently, just chat to fellow shooters, and watch them shooting, to see many different approaches `as to how`.

some swing thro,(instinctive?)  some are `pull away`, others are sustained lead,, all of which are subject to big differences in style and interpretation.

my personal style is sustained, as much as possible,, with the target dictating which way to shoot it ! (or miss, as the case may be   )

it was a way to shoot shown (taught ) to me years ago by some of the best in the business , but then GD seems to swing, or pull away,

i think the sustained method to see  a yards or feet in front out at the target is the easiest way to be consistent, and also to convey to some-one who shoots the same, as swing,  etc is difficult to convey

in hammys case,(75 yards), i probably would say 7-10 yards ,depending !   don't think of this as an argument, or which way is right,,, might be interesting to see views on this,,, maybe a new thread,,,?

iam glad iam not the only one who sees big gaps. most people think iam mad when i tell them how much lead i see.

Phil and I shot Hepworth Hall, john had a 100 sporting.  Up to his usual brilliant standard, nothing a million miles away, everything hitable and a wide variety of targets.  I just wish he had more shoots there as I thoroughly enjoy his targets, he really makes you think about what you are doing or going to do and it was a lovely day weather wise which was an added bonus.

the simo orange and black away pair caught out several people I was pleased with 8 there. The fast left to right midi with a right to left rabbit was my problem I only hit the last midi, I was well behind it.

Went to Oakedge yesterday, it's only 30 minutes from home and although the targets aren't always the most testing they do offer a decent mix and the ground itself is always superb especially so at this time of year when the trees are turning.

Finished on an 80 with the new Invictus and really enjoying shooting it. Should have been mid 80's if I'd not dropped a few really daft ones.
