Has anybody tried both of these guns and if so what was the out come? I currently own the ascent model but whilst in my local rfd today I shouldered the impact and liked how it felt. After telling the shop what I had they were more than keen a px as apparently the can't get any of the ascents due to demand.

I'm shooting well with the ascent and wasn't thinking of changing but I must say I did like the head up feel of the impact. Coleys are having an open day tomorrow so i may see if I can give one a try.

I have to say that it is not summit that I have done, BUT if you are shooting well with the current gun, be very careful about changing.  I doubt that anyone who has been shooting for any length of time has not, at some time, 'tried' a new gun, shot well with it, bought it and never, ever shot as well with it again.

I have an Ascent on order from my rfd I found it similar to Beretta 682 x which I like. Tried a friends Apex impact many times and own a Fabarm xlr5 velocity both of which feel disconnected when set up for my desired sight picture just cant get on with them and I am selling the Fabarm. This is just my personal opinion, for me it's a shame as I love the look of a high rib gun. Dont let this put you off an Impact may suit you, I suggest a lengthy test before you commit.

I shouldered a used 32" CG Ascent a few months ago and were it not for the heavy nose and very heavy weight of the gun it may well have found its way into my cabinet. The Impacts generally feel nice enough when shouldered but there is something just not quite right with these types of guns for ESP as they can feel disconnected and quite simply hard work compared to standard guns.

I know a few good shooters who have either gone back or despite good initial experience have subsequently struggled to find form after a dip in performance.

If you're shooting well with the Ascent, why change?  I made the mistake last November, just because I fancied a 32"  - and my scores took a bit of a pounding!  Back to my original gun, and I'm beginning to get back to where I was!

Just an observation.

As I said I was just interested to know what people thought of the impact and I'm a sucker for a bot of new tech, even my rfd said do a lengthy test before buying and he is the one trying to sell it.

Hamster my 32" ascent is the most well balanced gun I've owned (and there have been a few :) ) it balances perfectly where the gun hinges, I get where your coming from with the weight though but being 6'1" it has done me nothing but good, it has slowed my swing and made my shooting much smother.

I certainly feel the pull of an impact but I am not changing from my ascent anytime soon if ever.

My Ascent has helped elevate my shooting to a better level.

I am very interested in a raised rib gun and like what I have tried.

I have been looking at the Ascent, but I wondered; do they do the fixed, raised rib, on say a Maxum?

Or equally, do they do a variant of the Blaser F3, with a raised fixed rib?

I tried to order a Maxum with Ascent barrels and got told NO!. I bet they start making them when my Summit Ascent arrives..:(

Yeah I think your all right, I'm comfortable with the gun now and I set the stock up on the pattern plate so i know it shoots where I look.

I shot a 73 at Coleys yesterday and a 75 at Barbury today, for me these are good scores and I only picked up a shotgun for the first time around 6 months ago so hopefully the improvement will continue and not plateau.

Gary,

Stop sticking your nose against the sweet shop window and buy one! You know it makes sense.  :sarcastic:
