I've owned both.
Impact first followed by the Ascent. They feel very very similar in all honesty. There was a funny twang from the Impact as the rib kind of floats. It's a bit odd at first.
My reason for changing to the Ascent was reliability. I was always worried that the fact that the impact rib could be moved and flexed, it might at some point be a weak point. I had no issues with it whatsoever but it always nagged me a bit. The other reason was the Impact was just too adjustable. It was too easy to put in a bad score and then come home and alter things. Never a good idea.
My scores have gone up with the Ascent, but is that down to the gun or just natural progression? Who knows.
Everybody has said it before, if you are shooting well, why change. Sure, go for an Impact if you really have to, but throw your Allen keys away after you get it adjusted correctly!!!
