Another topic reminded me of the CG Syren hopefully most who placed orders pre launch/stock arriving have got their guns, how are they getting on?

One of my youngster loves hers and is shooting well with it

My wife got hers on Friday - ordered at the Coley's open day back in March.

I think Coley's still have a number outstanding - so she was lucky.

In short - couldn't be happier, very comfortable, looks great and she's hitting significantly more than she did with her 20g Silver Pigeon.

Very noticeable that the monte-carlo lets her see a lot more, plus the extra crunch of going from a 21gram 20b to 28g 12bore load helps!

Pete it was your thread that prompted me to ask, I did a search and not much came up, not a lot on them on Anglo italiens site or anywhere else.

Glad they are well received did they change to adjustable comb as standard?

Hi

I know! There's not a lot online, so little in fact that when Karen (my better half) tried to register it on the CG website - they don't list the model!

No adjustable comb - it's basically as far as I can see the same model as at the British Shooting Show - maybe some differences but not many.

I seem to remember being told that the adjustable version won't be available until next year, but could be wrong in that.

As I said we were lucky, still a lot of people waiting from what I was told.

Nice case - and choke selection, has to be said.

And a very nice piece of wood.

If you have any particular questions - sure I can get Mrs Pete to chip in (that's not normally a problem!), she was very impressed with the trigger pulls too - I tried it and not quite as good as my Blaser, but close.

Somewhere on here is a big write up after we tested them at Owls Lodge....ages ago.

Bang on answers - but from what I've seen:

1. Slimmer fore-end

2. Monte-carlo stock

3. Stock a more 'appropriate' length

4. Overall stock significantly slimmer, so grip fits better etc.

Nothing revolutionary, but pretty good for off the shelf. What impressed me was also the balance feels very nice, so it's all working together nicely - rather than (say) nose heavy because of the shorter stock

I had a nice geeky chat with Tanya Faulds about the Syren at the sxs championship. Tanya said that Fabarm are now doing a similar project. I think it's all great. I have large hands so a standard 12 suits me but more choice on the market is always good. If only Browning and Beretta were as innovative!

Anymore feed back?
I got to try the Fabarm Syren and the CG Syren at a CG test day up at Cambridge. Nice chap called Brett was showing them. I would have been more impressed had I read that month's shooting magazines :)

I liked the CG Syren 12G. I thought that the modifications wouldn't affect me personally as I have large hands for a woman and I'm not small, but it fitted me better than any gun I've ever picked up off the shelf. It was nice, it only took a shot to get used to it.

I didn't really like the Fabarm Syren 20G. The pitch of the stock is not as straight as the CG Syren so I can see it suiting lots of people. It just felt a bit too small (which is probably was) and short for me. I can see it being a great alternative to getting a Silver Pigeon 20G, but personally if I needed a game gun I'd be looking to try the CG Syren lightweight version. They didn't have one of those on the stand.

I also tried the CG invictus 12G. Now that's a superior gun. I liked that best of all, but I have no idea how I'd get that particular gun to feel as good as a CG Syren for me personally. Probably I couldn't because part of the good feel of the CG Syren is of course the balance.

ETA The engraving is really not to my taste. I'm not fond of game scenes, but the Syren roses are a very particular style. It really would make me think twice about buying one and I am the last person who cares what picture is on the side of my gun.
