Technological tweaks hampering good technique ?

Good Luck with that Fuz, don't get me wrong I'm not digging at anyone on here with this thread, I just ( from some experience ) hate seeing people throwing good hard earnt money in the wrong direction, spend it in the right place and with the right people and it'll take your shooting skills to the next level.

Mine is similar spec - X220T - 900 quid - my boot time is closer to 30 seconds from cold though.

Not timed mine...just got it today. Only going on what I was told...but I think that includes login, login to VPN and open work software and pick up work.

A shade better than the CF-29 it has replaced, which was close to 20 mins before you could use it...use in the loosest term...mainly due to the amount of utter sh!te that my work insisted on adding to it.

This one by all accounts, i5, 250BG SSD, 4Gb DDR3...it's pretty rapid in comparison. It is a Toughbook as well, which they insist on charging more for...needs to be though really, working "in the field" as one does.
