I'm sure I recently read in Clay Shooting that Aaron Heading was docked a target during the recent World Cup finals for carrying out a trial gun mount, presumably while in the shoot off?

If this is true where is the ISSF rule book is this covered cos I can't find any reference to it?

Yes I heard about this must say its a new one on me too.

I agree it's not specifically excluded as per:

Trap. All tied athletes must line up behind Station 2 in Bib

Number order. The first athlete must on command move onto

the station, load and call for a target randomly selected from

the group in front of Station 2. After shooting, the athlete must

move to the rear of the athlete(s) who have yet to shoot.

Each athlete in the tie must in turn do likewise. If after all

athletes have shot on Station 2 and a tie remains all athletes

in the tie must move to Station 3 and repeat the precedure. If

ties still remain the same procedure applies to Station 4. This

system of shooting Station by Station (return to Station 2)

must continue as long as a tie remains"

Test firing and warm ups take place 10 mins before the finals but what happens if the shooter dismounts the gun within the 15 secs allowed to call for the target? One target deduction in a sudden death shootoff seems an extreme penalty.

really have to know the details of the situation, but if when it was his time to shoot, mounted the gun took it down and brought it up again and was called for it????  He wuz robbed - no such thing in the rules ever.  It is/was illegal to track another shooter's targets but recovering from a bad gun mount?  I don't think so.

Was thinking exactly the same re: bad gun mount.

I've poured over the ISSF rules and for the life of me cannot find anything about penalties for a trial gun mount. In fact there are very few things you can be docked a target for?

Obviously more to this than just a 'trial gun mount' me thinks.

I had a look too Greg, I didn't find anything either! All seems rather odd.

I just watched the Final and could not see anything...??

Me neither Nicola

Flaming eck pal your up early ?

Very poor coverage compared to usual so must have been missed or edited out. All will be revealed at some stage.

Yes the coverage was awful. The camera set up was terrible and we were missing our lady Yank who does the brilliant commentary with guest experts.

There was a rider on the ISSF saying that some worldwide logistics company failed to deliver the camera equipment in time.

Update for you.

It did not happen. So we can all stop looking for the rule now.
