trigger guard blacking

The blacking on my Perazzi is really quite good given it age however the trigger guard has lost nearly all of the blacking. Is it worth while trying to restore it with a cold blueing product or is it a job for a pro hot blacking treatment? It is only a cosmetic thing but it makes the otherwise fine gun look a bit tatty on the gun rack

Cold blueing will stay on for some time but will eventualy wear off so you will have to re-apply it over and over again and (if you are looking for a permanent solution) will drive you nuts (I was cold blueing my Browning this way) - it is  simple procedure and looks genuine tho. So if you are looking for a permanent solution pro hot is the only way out.

or just polish it and forget about it.  BTW the guard is a righteous PITA to get off the housing.  The easy way is to just totally disassemble the trigger group.  Seriously.  And watch out for all the tiny tiny tiny spring followers.
