Can I ask what you look for in a waterproof?

Do you prefer a lightweight packable one which you can layer up, or do you prefer a slightly thicker one so you were less under it?

Do you have any recommendations?

Many thanks

I have one of these http://topgunclothing.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=67&product_id=97 for winter use, nice fleecy lined and waterproof. Buy a size slightly bigger than you need as they come a bit on the small side and leaves room for layers underneath.

Spring/ summer just ordered one of these http://www.musto.com/fcp/product/Outdoor-Clothing//LIGHTWEIGHT-CLAY-SHOOTING-JACKET/10288?colour=carbon Not lined so should be cool enough for spring/summer showers and fold small enough to be packable. Will let you know when it comes ;)

I've got a winter Musto jacket that I use when it's particularly wet and windy, and usually sub zero. But I do now carry a very lightweight golfing set of waterproofs, trousers and jacket. They scrunch up into the bag and weigh next to nothing. Wear my normal vest on the ouside of the jacket, if that makes sense. Golfing waterproofs are designed to allow a free swing and movement of the shoulders, so ideal for shooting IMHO.

I bought a waterproof at WMSG yesterday.

Under skeet vest so as not to mess with mount.

Thin and foldable.

(Good way to stop the rain!!)

I have the Musto waterproof for the winter.

Thanks all so far.

The Musto ones are quite a bit of money but I don't mind if they are worth it.

Yep i carry a golfing jacket in bottom of bag which can be worn under skeet vest, and a schoffel coat over the top of it all on wet cold days, take this off as i enter stand to shoot, got a musto over coat but can,t shoot in it as it interfears with gun mount, seems to bulge out and i know couple of others who had similar problems

For rainwear you cannot beat Golf waterproof suits available cheaply from JJB / Sports Direct or similar shops, then wear your skeet jacket over the top.

For places like Fauxdegla in the Summer you will need a heavy top coat which you can take off for a few minutes whilst you shoot.

Thanks for that suggestion - I'm going to get myself one of those.

I've got a Sports Direct and a JJB near me - I'm going to take a look this weekend... I'm not sure I have an Aldi...

Further to my earlier post, you can get good waterproofs from camping shops also. One brand that is very good is Halli Hansen.

I bought my Dunlop Golf suit from Sports Direct and I am very pleased with it although a little expensive at £7 for the complete suit and they refused to give me a discount for cash. So I went and got a loan. :D :D :D

You little Minx

It was last year, I bought some Dunlop Golf slacks as well, very smart, I'm a proper little Ian Poulter around the clay ground, perform like him as well, the Oh! so nearly man. Incidentally for those of you who shoot in gloves, if you don't like the MacWets a pair of golf gloves are really good.

Finally it is very worrying (for me) that I loiter around golf shops as I think golf spoils a good walk and I can't take my gundogs either.

Only played once, had eighteen shots, eighteen holes in one and bankrupted in the clubhouse afterwards. :.: :.: :.:

I use footjoy golf gloves for shooting, do the same job if not better than my macwets and 2 pairs of winter gloves for 15 squids from direct golf :D

Looking at the rest of this week, I think I need to pop in to a sports shop for some waterproofs, too. Wet forecast.
