Well, that was a long day. Left home at 7.50am (the surrounding traffic to WLSS in rush hour is fugly) and got home 5.50pm, with no hanging about to socialise afterwards..
Superb day for the time of year, although bright winter sunlight is actually not ideal for spotting certain clays at times. Very nice for standing around in though.
WLSS did another good job broadly, although for me, my day went gradually downhill. Started on the Hull layout, which was pretty easy going. Mainly long graceful targets, which sometimes ended up near to you if you let them come in. I missed the very first target (unforgivably) and hit the next 24.
Next up was the CCI layout, which again wasn't too tough but was a bit technical in places. I missed a single in each hoop for a 22.
Thirdly we shot Musto, which was a tougher layout, especially from the second hoop, especially as the sun made a big looper really tough to see around lunchtime. A bit sloppy for 19 here.
Then, a long wait until West London Gunroom layout. Scheduled for us at 3.45, it wasn't ready until 4.10; so a two hour wait. I was getting cold and fidgety by this time as the light started to fade a bit. Ben Davies on my squad hit a stunning 23 on this toughest layout. I made it look harder than it was with a fading 16, nearly doubling my losses from the first three Parcours. So the day ended on a bit of a low for me after a very enjoyable first three layouts.
Maybe I would have adjusted the course to toughen the Hull layout up a touch and slightly backed off WLGR one? I know I sound like a moaner, I am not, but I always think 'how do we improve this'? (A business related mindset I suppose).
I need to suss out timings if I do it again (I think some squads were finished two hours before we were). 8 hours at a ground to shoot 100 targets is not a mind set I am used to.
