i could not think of any thing worse than 12 stands of long crossers thankfully a lot of people appreciate variety and to me thats what it is all about.

As for the rabbits it was a brilliant stand i thought but very technical as carl confirmed with me this evening and yes he told me he only shot 3 on there but still shot an 88 just shows a true professional has a bad stand but still nuckles in to pull a decent score back.

And one other point Jim, I don't suppose me setting up in 6 inches of snow and ice plus shooting in high winds which was playing hell with the targets came into your thinking today?  As for where the pink clays came from, they came from the same batch of clays you've shot at for the past god knows how many shoots but I don't suppose you've had a problem with those targets which is why you haven't moanded about them?

There was a stand with a sim pair of pink aways. I shot it when it was sunny and they were tough to see, but shootable. I saw this stand later when the sun had gone and they were much clearer.

The rabbits were hard to see. I did wonder if the traps should have been on the left, with clays going to right, so that he orange clay tops would have been visible? (I did straight it, but was glad the scorer had good eyes). Could have been better..

Other than that it was all fair. Easy to hate certain stands when the overall score is down. There was no gimme stand. Good!

I only shoot a 100 per week he does that most mornings sorry for having a point of view perhaps like when you advertise Fitas you could say technical shoot not for the un professionals and then sporting when it is

Well shot Stew,very well shot.
Again the chef showed us all up,unfortunately my head was still full of Stella from last night.But I still enjoyed this shoot.
And I striated the rabbit stand,thought it was easy.

Just seen the full score sheet on the CPSA site, for this shoot ..........for what ever reason it shot tough, would have thought there might have been a few more shooters who attended, giving their thoughts on here ?

Yes be good to have more folk, for interest. However Steve knows it was 6 or 7 harder than he intended, for most folk, due to the wind. It was probably on the firm side before the wind caused a bit more severity. When its tricky, it knocks 3 clays off the very best shots and 15 off the beginners of course..

I gather Grange farm had a quick tweak of their traps on the morning, which is what Weston could probably have done with in hindsight. Steve does run the shoot with little assistance, so this might be particularly tricky?

In my honest opinion in all the shoots I've visited in the years I've been doing this and before, there isn't really such a thing as a sh*t shoot.  A target travels from A to B and you've got to break it before it gets to B.  Don't over complicate it.

It shot alot harder than it looked, saying that i still thought the winning score should of been around the 94 mark, there were a few eysight tests there, the pair of rabbits, which in the summer rolling on grass instead of mud would have been alot more visible, and the pair of pink going away, the wind didnt help either moving the targets about but thats mother nature for you and at the end of the day we are shooting sporting

All in all i thought it was a good shoot with a fair bit of variety and thankfully for my own sake no driven!

At the end of the day we go out to enjoy ourselves, winning is nice but if you dont enjoy it you wont win!

It was a marmite shoot some loved it and some didnt the trouble with this blog it looks like i was the only one that didnt. Who would run a shoot. Not me (must try to get back on the christmas card list) But yes roll on this sunday. :hunter:

Jim,I didn't find it that bad. It was a bit tough but I still think I should have shot above my average if I had been on top form. Funnily enough Steve told me about all the targets that were particularly wind affected and I hit most of them! The big looper off the floor need angling back in I reckon. Otherwise, nothing too horrible, just firm all the way round.

I do think that people who 'suffer' at a shoot tend to quietly slip away rather than risk being harangued for seeming 'wet'. There will be others who agree it was too tough but will stay quiet. You might have been a bit rough in your criticism but a forum like this needs to hear all sides.

Steve sets more shoots than anybody else and get it right 9 times out of ten, so overall it's all good.
