So,you shoot 3/4 and full, but having a half in each barrel is handicapping yourself? It takes me 2 seconds to switch my barrels over, whilst I wait to shoot, I still think you are handicapping yourself with the same choke in each barrel. But feeling confident in your equipment is half the battle!
You are missing the point, different chokes in each barrel gives you more versiltilty, you could drive to work in 3rd gear only, you will get there, but not in the most efficient way! So,you shoot 3/4 and full, but having a half in each barrel is handicapping yourself?
2 seconds to flick a button that seems long! Or did you mean change barrel as in semi?It takes me 2 seconds to switch my barrels over, whilst I wait to shoot, I still think you are handicapping yourself with the same choke in each barrel. But feeling confident in your equipment is half the battle!
Totally agree.Chokes ,put what you think will break the target in your gun be it quarter or full and leave it and get on with just looking at the clay and nothing else
Yes I have patterned my chokes at 20yds, so I know the shot is going where I am looking! I don't bother with 40yds because pattern plates don't travel at speed in all directions, but rely on quality of clay breaks.2 seconds to flick a button that seems long! Or did you mean change barrel as in semi?Or did you use electric drill on choke tube wrench? If so was it rechargeable?Pattern your chokes at 20 and 40 yds. That will give you an idea what is happening.
CG do seem to have very tight throwing chokes, I know a AAA shooter who has 1/4 in both barrels and he used to shoot 3/4 & Full in his Miroku before. Having said that Full is academically speaking supposed to throw 70% inside a 30" circle at 40 yards so 90% at 54 yards can only really happen with slugs. We shot round Orston with 2 people shooting Guerini's on Sunday, and they had patterned their chokes and had reported that the chokes were all tighter than they should be. The IC choke was supposed to throw it's 90% pattern at 30 metres but they found it threw the 90% pattern at 50 metres instead.
Why 30 meters? This is 33yds half choke will be a bit tighter. I think I'm right in saying there is only 10% difference between 1/2 and full at 40yds.We shot round Orston with 2 people shooting Guerini's on Sunday, and they had patterned their chokes and had reported that the chokes were all tighter than they should be. The IC choke was supposed to throw it's 90% pattern at 30 metres but they found it threw the 90% pattern at 50 metres instead.
But wouldn't you rather have the choice of two instead of one! Each to their own at the end of the day.
But I'd rather drive my car in just 3rd gear, than just 5th and 6th...
;-)
Top answer! For me? no. I know that my chokes are capable of hitting anything I need to in a ESP shoot. Therefore deciding which choke to select for what target is one less thing for me to think/worry about.
But like I said, each to their own. do whatever makes you feel more confident when your shooting. And fair enough to you in whatever chokes you like to use. k:
I reckon being confident and having a consistent routine in acquiring targets will get you more kills than changing chokes?!
Only more versatility if one clay is close and the other one further out, if at every shoot all the stands were set up like that I would agree with you. However they are not & if the clays on a stand are of a similar distance out then you are actually a disadvantage with one of your barrels so it’s less versatility and more to think about. But wouldn't you rather have the choice of two instead of one!
