This is the first time I have come across these guns....they look nice, just like the W&S was, but what are these like for a first gun, if they are a pile of poop, then Why ? Opinions please. I'm getting desperate now, I cant keep using the club gun forever, I also want to start venturing further afield now, join CPSA, start entering a few comps and get some comp experience as well.

Can we just, for now, leave the Browings, and the Beretta's and the Miroku's out of the equation..you all know how good they are and so they just cloud up the pool a bit, just want to focus on these for now.

Don't know mate but they are part of beretta so must be good

Bettinsoli Boomerangs mate.

Seriously.  I was going to buy one of these...They look very pretty I agree and certainly better than a Wibly.

1) They will never be as reliable as BIG 3

2) Where is the fun in having a gun repaired every 5 mins?

3) What do you think you will get as a trade in when you decide you actually should have taken some advice...?

4) If it costs £1400 for a quality gun from Beretta, with their economies of scale...what do you think you can get for £800?

I know a couple of people who have these and will say they have no problem with them however they only shoot now and again so cant say what they are going to be like after a few thousand shots.one thing to look at is the second hand price as most of us go through several guns when we start out not many have the same one for years from the outset.if the gun that is new is 800 and you sen one in the shop for 450=500 then you know if you don't get on with it you are looking at getting less than half what you paid back as well as spend another few hundred on top I have been through quite a lot of guns and dare not think about how much I have lost over the years.also a good gun shop will tell you what are unreliable and what will lose you a ton of money on exchange even if they stock them any dealer who does not give an honest opinion on a make of gun should be avoided my dealer has warned me off several makes even though he stocks them'

I had one of these as a starter gun a few years back.

The problem i had with it was that shells with short caps on them would get stuck under the ejectors.

Didn't keep it to long, the only lucky thing for me was i bought it new at the right price from a gunsmith friend and didn't lose on it when i went for one of the other three you mention.

I think there are better cheaper end guns than these. You could look at, Franchi, s/h Lanbers, Baikals, SKB, Lincoln, Winchester etc

There's quite a few to look at as an alternative.

It may be that the quality has improved since I had one, some 7 years ago.  You may be lucky and get a good one, but my experience - along with a lot of others - is to leave them alone.  They aren't called boomerangs for nothing - they keep coming back!  Second barrel non-fire, double discharge...

But as I said, you may be lucky and get a decent one, so here's wishing you good luck!

Thanks folks...good 2nd hand guns seem to have a very fast turn over, I have lost several from the big 3 by the time I've dashed of an email over the last several months , I lost out on beauty just last week, an SP1 for an amazing £750.00 and only in St Albans, life couldn't get better! It was a sign from the gods...but kick the cat, it sold right from under me....thats why I thought if I buy a new one on my budget I would stand a better chance.

Just leave your contact details and approx budget with several gun shops, they can contact you when they take a suitable gun in part exchange .

Yep...did that on Friday, so allowing for weekend, hopefully someone will contact me next week, thing is, as I'm told, your still in a bit of a queue even then! Has clay shooting suddenly had a massive resurgence or something? Or has it always been like this?

I have never experienced guns selling that fast. Don't know why that would be certainly have not noticed any more shooters coming through recently.

Maybe its just me .....might be going about it all wrong.....need to change tac I think......I am so pissed off losing out on that Silver Pigeon last week..it was immaculate, hardly used, apprently... Just under my budget as well....still, never mind...I've emaild my details to Avalon guns, asked them to contact me if/ when they get another one in.....fingers crossed.

Look at least daily on Gun Trader, Gun Star, Gun Watch and the forums and be prepared to travel and you will find something suitable within a month or so quite easily.

there must be around ten thousand guns on sale every day.my local dealer Derek lee of boston has several in right now and I would say well worth a day out and the ride home is all the sweeter for having your new gun in the back of your car so you spend about thiry or so pounds on fuel but in the scheme of what you are going to spend shooting over the years its nothing.it may be more of a problem if you are looking for one of the premium guns.there is no reason why you cannot get your gun on your next day off work they are out there waiting and all it wil take on your behalf is a little effort nothing comes to us we have to go get it.good luck

don't wait to see one on guntrader or the like phone dealers as a lot of them have guns that are going through the process and not on the ads yet.

I bought a Lanber Sporting Delux from new at £825 I think, about 18 months ago, have put 50 - 100 cartridges through almost weekly and can say it's very solid and I quite like it.

Only other gun i've shot is my Dads Lincoln so can't compare it to anything worthy of note but for a first gun im very happy with it.

(I am getting the bug to upgrade to one of the big 3 though)

If you like it and shoot it well then keep it.

Stick with a used Miroku, a used Miroku made Browning or a used Beretta. Cheap new guns are cheap for a reason!!!!!!! As has been said before, the internet is full of used Berettas, Mirooks and Brownings. You should have no trouble finding one at all. Please stay with one of the big three, I was told this many years ago and I took no notice, but I wish I had!!!!!
