Ian I guess we have the same understanding of sporting mate! I also have no idea why guys butcher good trap guns, but I have met many guys who have done it though and it seems as though Mirokus are the favourite guns for such escapades. Perhaps one of the sporting boys can enlighten us?
Les, going back at least 25 years, in my view people converted trap guns to sporters, purely because they made better sporters than the ones on offer at the time (eg 3800), and probably still do in some cases

yup, I have one of these :) although it no longer has the danuser on it as I cracked the stock and just have a normal trap stock with adjustable comb on there.

Les, re butchering a decent trap gun, I like to think the bloxham I have is just enhanced, lengthened and polished forcing cones and thin wall teague chokes, I would probably not have the ports next time though ;) I think it comes down to as has been mentioned before the mk38 trap is fairly flat shooting for a trap gun and less drop at the face as standard, added to this the bombproof nature of the mk38 and a nice fat beavertail forend that I think adds to control.

I have tried a mk38 sporter and found I was staring at the back of the top lever :.:
Do you shoot sporting Andy and do you feel i could get away with a trap model for just that with a bit of tweaking? it certainly makes for buying second hand easier.

Hi Guys, i've just ha a similar problem, bought a beretta universal after 10 years away from shooting after having a 7000 moroku in my teens. The beretta was ok but very butt heavy, shot a tad too high and felt very numb.

So i've just bought one if the last of the mkII 525 sporting browning 32 inch, and it is absolutely top notch, balanced lovely, shoots flat, thoroughbred sporter, game scene engraved and good wood for a grade 1.

I'm well pleased with it!

I shoot a an MK38 trap for sporting as do a couple of the people I shoot with regularly (actually one uses a 3800 and has been extremely successfull with it). I've found they vary a little bit with comb height, mine needed a little fettling for me but I've shouldered others that were lower in the comb straight out of the rack.

I also shoot with a couple of gents...one of whom will read this :D , .......and both shoot MK38 sporters extremely well.

Great guns in sporting or trap versions.

I also shoot a Mk 38 Trap that has been sporterised , fixed choke that has been opened up to 1/2 & 3/4 and shoots a whole lot flatter than my Beretta GoldE ( which is now staying in the cabinet ! )

I Use it for sporting, game, pigeons and when I have a play at the trap and skeets :D personally I think the trap version with thin wall chokes balances better, I believe the m/c sporter is briley invector plus which adds a bit more weight to the barrels. You can pick up a grd5 or even 6 for very reasonable money compared to a dt10 ;)

Mine is Teague choked also. Nigel Teague told me when I had mine done that they changed the barrels in the newer MK38 trap guns a couple years back, the barrels are lighter in the newer ones and he also said that the factory now does a really good job with the forcing cones and that he didn't really do anything with them now on the newer barrels....made no difference to me as I didn't want forcing cones doing, he was just telling me that was how they came from the factory now.

Just had a quick squizz on guntrader, £2500-2800 for a gd5 add another 400 to get it teagued with long thinwall chokes and you have a top notch gun for around 3 grand new :D ooooo starting to get an itchy credit card :.: :.:

Just been on guntrader myself as i do for hours each day to the annoyance of the wife but sadly my budget is half that much as buying a semi auto but a grade three will suffice , any idea what the approx turn around time is for a teague conversion?

Same as I sold my gd5 32" with long teagues a month ago.

spend my life drooling over guntrader :.: would have thought the turn around would be a decent wait as there is a reproof involved according to nigels website http://www.teagueprecisionchokesltd.co.uk/prices.html

C10d max for turn around, my last two guns took 4 days from drop off to return. Nigel is a true professional and gentleman who provides a first class service.

Jeez thats great service, did that involve a reproof? would have thought the proofhouse would have taken ages with postage there and back.

that is quick will drop him a line in the week and get the low down!

Teague quotes a 10 day turnaround which includes re-proofing but long extended come in much nearer £600 if you want 6 chokes and include postage both ways.

yup, might still be able to get it back as the guy only uses it for pigeons... i have a v nice DT10 for sale tho....

yes included a reproof.
Ha! have come to the conclusion there is no such thing as a nice Dt10 just offloaded mine but thanks anyway ;)
