Par cur Pete,aJust because "Yorkie"  sponsors you with a Krieghoff. (Remington32)  I suppose you have to promote them?                 I have no aliegence to Perazzi except that they are the best patterning gun in the world! It

I dont sponsor him Cyril - he's a big lad and can look after himself. You might want a word with his Mrs though - she would have a fit if she knew how much he spends on shooting!

... a nice Perazzi SC0 for sale with 30" Barrels 1530grms.  I shot the gun and it was lightening quick.  Too quick for me.

Thanks everyone.
The real problem with light barrels (tho 1530 is not that light - 1340 is light) is that if you use them and let the body relax into the no effort zone, then those other things, in fact most other things, elevate to the pig on a shovel status.

The most difficult shotgun games in existence are almost exclusively populated by light/75cm (and some shorter) barrels.  Ever wonder why that is?

The most difficult or most samey and repetitive ? Taking Fitasc as tough and arguably ESP as being even tougher (stats back this up  ;) ) your statement is flawed since they are almost entirely dominated by 32" barrels most of which cannot be described as light, and that's coming from someone who rather dislikes heavier barrels.

Cyril

patterns only kill targets if you put them in the right place ?

Ian has sold about 20 now I think ?

So nice to know I've earnt my

sponsorship deal ??

Holy Shamoly!   I didn't think a little question on barrel length would have set the wheels of thread like this in motion!!!!

Suffice to say that buying a set of 32" barrels at that price put the gun out of my territory.  Great gun undoubtedly. Lovely to shoot, but too fast for my tiring reflexes!

I've now settled on a gun I want........just got to find it now!

Parody Pete,  I'm sorry to inform you its not really sponsorship!  Your" Parcours Pete Special"  is not a one off its an old dog that Yorkie could'nt sell! Had it been a Perazzi you would probably by now be a Perazzi team member with a Lamborghini Countach.  For you personal use?   ?

I was thinking more of box birds and helice with Olympic trap a distant 3rd.

and how are Fitasc and  ESP not samey and repetitive when you shoot the SAME birds ten times?  Even a 60yd crosser is learnable but a 40+meter darting pigeon is never the same twice.  It isn't even the same once.  And helice are not much different tho marginally easier to kill.

The box bird videos I've had the misfortune to watch seem to show birds being zapped very soon after take off so although I can see what you mean by never the same even once  :clover:  to all intents and purposes a fair number are pretty predictable requiring similar techniques and movements.

You are also technically correct that when you break ESP and Fitasc down they feature a large number of repeat shots but the devil as always is in the detail. You cannot learn nor master either discipline by repetition  ;)  unlike the Trap games. Then of course there is the small matter of the actual, quantifiable difficulty of those repeat shots. Most would agree that the disciplines which require 100 straights as a routine score to even get into the final  :p  can't begin to compare (in difficulty of individual shots) with disciplines where world champions are often observed missing more birds on a single stand than their Trap/Skeet counterparts may in a month.

I accept 30" or less may be popular for box birds or Trap, the confusion arose when you equated them as the most difficult shotgun games in existence.  :)

I have no argument with that at all.  OT (and ABT certainly) are different tho.  I would think that "learning" the 15 different target presentations in nine not the same at all schemes of OT would be easily equitable to having a notion of the possible target presentations likely to be seen at any sporting event.  To be quite honest, I can't imagine anyone even attempting to learn the OT schemes not even mentioning that it wouldn't give the shooter any advantage anyway. That may be because my brainpower is limited so it might be just me that suffers those limitations.

Well a sh*te shot is a sh*te shot

John, be nice!  You know he was talking about special instances so don't be mean.  I'm sure you can be just a lovely person as easily as I can.

See!  I'm doing it now.
