Am now going to stop using oil (3in1) to lube my chokes.

But. . . .

Which grease should I use instead?

My Teagues came with some blue grease provided by Teague but I can't see them selling this on there site!

Regards

Matt

What was wrong with the oil? There are quite a few grease products that would work, Clensoil and Tetra spring to mind

I use Cinnamon Butter, DYE Slick Lube, Sleek or Monkey Spunk.

Depends on how I feel . . . :)

It's a non issue really. It doesn't matter whether you use an expensive firearms lube or some lard from the fridge.

Grease is grease as far as chokes are concerned.

:fie:  You should use the same grease as you use on your piles!                :fie:  bloody multichokes

Bit controversial but I use Castrol Edge fully synthetic motor oil 10/40! It sticks, and doesn't disappear like other expensive oils, and it works, hardly any wear on my moving parts, there almost as new! Also a drop rubbed into my chokes works a treat!

The problem (potentially) with grease is that is traps dirt and forms a nasty new substance. It's fine if the cleaning regime is frequent and careful, replacing the grease often, but for lower maintenance, a drop of oil does fit the bill. This goes for hinge pins / ejectors etc too. Dirty grease is no help..

Tegaue use: Castrol Spheeril LCX 6002 lithium complex grease, I can only find it online at £1321.00 in a 45gallon drum so thats no good.

I checked out what Morris Lube`s had to offer as they are localish........and bingo: £5 a tub collected or £11 posted a big tub there equivelant which is : K2EP Lithium Complex Grease.

Hope the link is okay to post :  http://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk/k2ep-lithium-complex-grease.html    Spec sheet and Haz Safety Data Sheet also there.

UPDATE: It turns out my local agricultural murchant (TFM) has this for a grand total of: £2.17, so a recomended quality product by a choke manufacturer and a like for like product nice and cheap and pleantyfull. Most choke tube grease/ gun grease seems to be £5+ a tub and a small tub it is and then postage on top ! So for £2.17 over the counter am happy !

So this is what HM employees do all day ?

Search the internet for HazMat data and local suppliers !

Get yourself off down to Building A28 , they will have barrels of it down there.

You need to change your name from Salop Sniper to HazMat.

Hi Pete,

Hope your well, ive not seen you since october/november time at the ROC/white pump farm shoot !

For £2 its not worth someone giving me some from A28 and someone else complaining.

Where are you shooting these days ?  Ive been doing Mickley Hall and Haimwood.
