Not all AK47's are ugly - I love Kalashnikov vodka:

Correct Hammy, the AK is a nasty looking bit of kit indeed, but I think it does what it was designed to do, with amazing competency!
Competency? Thought they were spray and pray..?

AK47 Fantastic piece of kit - brilliantly simple in design, well considered features, rugged, reliable & effective. VERY accurate in the right hands & can be repaired by any back street mechanic or blacksmith. Should be considered a 20th Century design classic...

Actually Nic and Les they are surprisingly accurate in semi auto single shot mode, hence why they are popular for Practical Rifle. They are light, easily manoeuvrable, and cycle quickly for fast accurate shooting in semi auto mode.

Of course in full auto mode they are hard to handle and consequently "Spray and Pray" just about sums it up, but that goes for just about any fully auto weapon of that kind of calibre.

The Scorpion is the regular tool of the drug traffickers in Eastern Europe. In full auto mode that sprays around like a 9mm lawn sprinkler . . . . . . . . .  nasty, nasty piece of kit. And if you really want to experience hitting everything from the floor to the ceiling and possibly even hitting the target between the two, you should have a go one handed with a 9mm Glock 18 pistol in full auto mode with an extended clip  :shout:

Always wanted a Colt 1911 stunning piece of kit

Oooooooh yeah mate - and in Practical Pistol they have now started a Single Stack Division to bring these wonderful handguns back into play, with just eight in the clip and one up the pipe, so as not to be disadvantaged against the Double Stack guys with 14 or 15 in the clip, like say the Para Ordnance .45

My .40cal CZ75 shown above is a double stacker and holds 17 in the clip plus one in the chamber, and Pam's 9mm Glock 34 holds 19 in the clip plus one in the chamber.

Below is my new SIG .45

So were do you shoot this practical pistol mallarkey ?

Sadly, since the handgun ban in UK, our guns are held with a very good friend and gun dealer in Plzen, Czech Republic, south of Prague.

The guns do have European Passports, so any match that he is going to, such as in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Holland, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, and we want to shoot the match, then he takes our guns with him.

Every year my wife and I always shoot the Czech National Championships near Tabor, even further south of Prague, and the Polish National Championships at Krakow. Any other matches we do these days is purely down to available funds, but we have in the past shot in all the above countries.

Unfortunately, not many people left in UK still doing it :prankster:
