Just spoken to Abs and she is over the moon obviously...

She was saying that the layout that she ended the whole competition on was the 2nd layout where she shot a 20 (for those who might not know...Abs shot 23-20-24-23-24-24-25-24 = 187 winning by 2 clear points) and so obviously she was wary of it........so after missing the 1st bird out.......she thought bugger....dig in and sort them out.......which she did.

It did not help when earlier on someone told her she was lying in 2nd place.....but....this is what can happen abroad....and Abs just knuckled down and got on with it in the last few layouts.

Brilliant shooter and a very nice girl.

I must admit to being somewhat confused as to what constitutes a world championship competitor. The reason I say that is I was shooting on Saturday and a few of the shooters and Myself were sitting having a coffee before starting shooting. We were talking about the UT competition in Mariboor and how Mehid Agez started with three straight 25's, the were naturally pleased he is French! So I said is he a French champion and was surprised to here the reply no he's average there will be better shooters competing here tomorrow in our Prix Prestige 100 UT! Is it a case of if you can afford the travel and have the time you are in ?

Edit

I assume they were saying average for an international competitor?

same thoughts here pal. Abt Ut and even some Dtl over winter for me. Looking forward to gp in two weeks though.
Dont think I'm going to get to the GP unfortunately, due to time constraints, but I'm definitely shooting the last GB shoot at SC before its raised to the ground (allegedly)

This is a thread that is congratulation our UT winners. A World Champion is a World Champion....they have competed against the best ....including the various countries national teams for one thing.....and they are in 'the major event' with their peers fighting for gold.

I say this as nicely as i can...but I personally do not give a rats arse about some guy who is telling you that...'they have better there in France'.......they were not at Solvenia....so we will never know how they 'might' have performned in 'top flight competition' when the pressure is on for 8 rounds...some of which were in the pissing rain...true story.

JWP when you get these sorts of people telling you this sort of sh*te....could i suggest that if you just smile and say 'oh really' that they will shut up quicker than if you engaged them....just saying.

I don't think jw meant anything derogatory i think what he meant was more to do with what constitutes an international shooter as in what must one have done to be able to use the title. This is how i read it anyway.

I think its fare to say that there is a degree of truth that not everyone can afford to attend such comps however good they are but as nic says you have to be in it to win it and if you shoot good on the day you deserve it even if it was a one off and you never shoot that good again.

Hmm that's not the way I conduct myself to be honest... true story. And this was a genuine question and I am not taking anything away from our shooters whom I do applaud I am as proud of British shooters as the next man. I do know this these people and they were serious when they said he was an average shooter I took that to mean at international level? I also don't doubt when they said there will be better at their own comp, they meant it! Mehdi turned up at out own club's 10 plateaux rachat last weekend so I have actually shot against him :)  on the same stand you know he was on stand to my right ... true story :) but wait for it I actually shot 9 straight he only managed 8 in that round  :fie:  ! He's miles better than me but he was far from the best shooter on show he shot 15 rounds too!  Now can I ask you a question why are you so aggressive when answering a perfectly reasonable question? If you don't think a question is worthy of an answer don't answer it... simples.

Ian when I post I do so to have a genuine question answered end off! I expect a courteous and civil reply not a foul mouthed tirade. I don't care if someone has shot on the moon for their country It does not harm to answer a question properly. I brought up the fact that Mehdi had in fact been at our club shoot the weekend before earlier in the thread, he is a very good shot .. but there were better there, believe me when I say that! I do have a wee feather I my cap though I out shot a French international fair and square in a ten straight comp actually not only once, I did him twice alas I still only did nine! :)  I shot nine 7 times :) never going to make it :(   ...   :)

In 2011 and 2008 the World UT Championships were held in France and still they did not win it. How close do they want it to come?

I was honestly not making a derogatory comment to Jwp.

But we have all heard the 'I could win it if I was there' comments.....which if course may or not be the case.

I wasn't.

Just don't take every comment I make and turn it in to one about you. That might help.

I was referring clearly to the one who was making the daft comment.

Hey Skeetfreak, this is a thread that is congratulatING our UT winners, why u confuse everybody by starting your thread in such an unrelated manner?
Well some of us who watch any overseas championships have great expectation that our teams do as well as they always do.....and when that happens.....as we know it will......we congratulate them.....and it turns into a congratulation thread......I would have thought that it was very clear.

Yes funny they should choose to go to all the way to Slovenia to win it this year in the open and vet category . I do know they hate the way we cook beef could that be something to do with it ?  :)

Quite....!!

Some of us have heard it all before...over and over and over....just saying.

This is true nic did make it clear that she had a problem with those that said it and quite rightly so.

To clarify i was trying to defuse a situation i thought was coming and it did :)

If it comes to Canterbury I expect I'll win it.
And your UT ranges in Canterbury are...??????

This is very poor behaviour and disrespectful of our great shooters....to ruin a thread congratulating their achievements.

It is not always easy to beat the French. In 2008 we sent the usual three man team of Supervets to France. The French entered 35 Supervets then announced their team when the shoot had finished.. GB won Supervets.

This thread did not start off as congratulatory, you made it into one and nobody is disrespecting anyone, don't accuse me of stuff and get over yourself. You are not the boss of me or this forum or this thread.
