Ok what I need is a fast track total idiots guide to shooting those pesky going sideways and coming towards thingies. Remember were talking total as in total sporting idiot.(phil is now wishing I was shooting for lancs :) )

also

choice of two guns to use very flat shooting eell or std DT with std 60.40 poi

also

What are the chances of smacking my barrel on one of these cage thingies if the answer is even slight possibility then the answer to the above is std DT cant risk any damage to the eell.

also

uk 7 ok for everything ? or couple of boxes of 9s for close stuff ?

cheers

Hey that is GREAT news. I can lend you an auto, or my 'M'  trap gun which is multi.....oh forget it. It spreads a lot. I really admire a Guy who is willing to try something different, now then,..........did you watch the Eurovision !!!!
wes

despite my many humerous comments of sporting I have no problem with anything barrel (or indeed blade) related, I will try anything once. Done all trap apart from double done skeet done helice now sporting BUT no mate I draw the line at watching euro vision :)

iPs we use 7.5s for everything you'll have enough crap running round yer head without thinking about shot size , keep your head on the stock, don't look over the barrels at the targets , but importantly enjoy it, if your in good company and having a bit of fun,

It won't be long until your flicking through the CPSA fixtures list, deciding which discipline to "shoot today"

Cheers allan yes your prob right will have enough to worry about 7.5 it is then. My competitive side is coming through, like I have any chance :)

You never know I might really like it, never say never thats what I say.

Traitor!

But seriously, I have a very nice 32inch 686 sporter you are more than welcome to borrow. It even has screw-in chokes!! Whatever they are?

Right OK here we go, imagine you are shooting the extreme angled trap targets from either pegs 1 or 5, correct me if I am wrong, but, you need to go past the bird, pulling the trigger as you do so.(thats crossers covered).  If, as in ABT you are shooting the high bird, you need to cover it or shoot what appears at it. (that's the teal/risers dealt with). If you have already shot skeet, the rest is easy. Start off pointing at it,pull ahead, (everything forward and trust in the Lord !) pull trigger. Better still, meet me at Ribble Bank on Sunday morning and I will give you a crash course F.O.C. I will even throw in 100 Superfast 7.5's.

Thats briliant wes just the idiots guide i needed, that makes perfect sense, piece of pis really then (joking)

very kind and I would take you up on that for sure but shooting a abt comp on sat, thanks though very kind of you to offer.

Oh hang on I read that wrong sunday you say, will pm you I might be good for that. Is that webton or what used to be hesketh bank gc

cheers wes

No problem ips. Just take the EELL, it will be fine. I have never managed to damage any gun at a clay ground yet.

Sorry, just read the last bit. Yes, formerly Webton. We get there around 11.00am. shoot 50, have a sausage butty and coffee, then home around 2.00pm. You will be made more than welcome.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, we're shooting a round of sporting tomorow night at hodnet. I'm taking the trap gun and the 4.10. It will be a good laugh , the more you relax, the more you'll enjoy it

Sorry! Wrong forum.    :fie: :fie:

I must be on the "Mirror World" forum where everything is turned upside down that Wonko The Sane goes on about?

Are you serious Ips????    No Way!!!

This is so bizarre that I might have to contact Les and go shoot some OT at Southern Counties. Ha! Ha! Ha!   :sarcastic: :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

everyone is making this look very easy, its not, you need a multi choke gun with at least 10 chokes and 4 different size shot cartridges.you must study each clay on every stand and make a calculation of what to use.

a quick rule of thumb is

close targets use full choke and 6 1/2s

long targets use cyl choke and 9s

after all we dont want trappies showing us up do we.

Td

I am a man of mystery,

psst for christ sake dont tell les, he is hard core :)

don't worry mate no fear of that 28yrs of solid trap shooting means I expect it is going to be very hard to adapt to, its only for fun of course BUT I am going to try my very best for phil for yorkshire and not to make too much of an arse of myself.
