I was reading somewhere that due to the changes in DT, there is likely to be a fall in the number of people using high rib/half rib guns. Why should this be the case? Anyway I seem to remember that back in about 2000 or there abouts, most of the guns used were flat rib,in fact I think Richard Faulds used a flat rib DT10 in the 2000 Olympics, so what happened and what is going to happen? I don't shoot DT and I'm just curious.

well firstly the reason people predict the demise of these, is because the big ones are spot shooting machines and with the new rules it is harder to spot shoot with a dead gun and you simply have to move to some of your targets.

The jury is still out on which way things will go as we see slightly different techniques to deal with the Randomness of targets.

A high rib won the recent GB selections and two separate Half ribs made the finals(one of them mine!)

Cheers Jake!

Yes, I have seen them, but not very often. I got mine from Keen sights in America, as did Richard Faulds. The hard bit is getting your stock comb up higher to line up.

hi Jake, one thing i have wondered, what is the advantage of the smaller rib over a full size one ?

thanks

Do you mean the half ribs?If you do, there is not much in it really, but it gives even more view through or across the gun without the rib getting in way. If you think of a flat rib gun, you wouldn't see a target coming up from the right side with the left eye, but with high half rib I can put gun out level and still see the Trap house roof and I can see all around the gun with both eyes.

This is best I can describe and I have exaggerated slightly.
