A high comb setup in shotgun shooting can indeed provide a good sight picture, but if you're seeing too much rib, it could lead to poor alignment and missed shots. A good rule of thumb is to ensure that when you mount your shotgun, your eye aligns naturally with the rib without having to raise or lower your head excessively.

If you find yourself consistently seeing more rib than the bead or the target, it may indicate that your comb is too high. You should ideally see just a small amount of rib, allowing for a clear view of the target. If you’re missing many clays, it's a sign to reassess your setup; adjusting the comb height down slightly can help create a better sight alignment, improving your accuracy and consistency.
