    Sporting Shoots 2020

Steady 86 at Honesberie this morning, the way their squads worked made it flow very nicely. Enjoyed the round; good mix of targets, some needed a good gap, no silly colours, and only one no-bird that I remember.

Just listen to Ed and do what he says, worked well for me.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Not a bad morning at AGL Express Masters; 85 on the registered and 18 on the 3 stands shot with supplied cartridges for 103. Sim pair with the OH midi and L/R standard was silly with the wind behind it, then stand next to it I could see the midi teal only as it was in blue sky, the crosser that...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

British was well run at Garlands, fair targets with nothing silly. I was doing reasonably well until stand 12 with the 2 driven, where I dropped 4; didn't get my feet right at all and pulled off line.  This just then put a bit of pressure on the last 3 which were pretty tough - 93/120 Some...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Mixed bag for me, some I shot well and some not so well, missing 3 on four and 4 on five just put a bit of pressure on.  Thought a couple of the longer birds on 11 & 12 were a bit 'short window' if you know what I mean?  Clays appearing from the trees 50 yards away then disappearing as fast...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Steady 85 at AGL this morning; was pretty chilly early on and it took me a few stands to get moving properly which resulted in some silly misses including 2 of the going away battues on 1. Went 6-10 only one away then got to 11 and had a disaster, completely mis-reading the battue going way in...

    Gun up & down mounting/targetting

Anyone can stand there and say "you're in front of that" but there's usually a reason why you are in front, behind or wherever on a target. It's not helpful and not always wanted, and in a couple of recent coaching sessions I was struggling with a couple of things; the process of putting them...

    Rudling 96, somehow I finished 3rd in A with 81

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I had some time off work this week; nice practice at Owls Lodge Tuesday afternoon and Churchills Wednesday, the registered at Churchills on Thursday morning then Kibworth in the afternoon with Ed, some more time with Ed at Sporting Targets on Friday then a go at the high tower challenge which...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I shot really well for 87 and missed 5 on that driven stand. I hit my £12500 gun 3 times on that bar on a cage that didn't even need to be there, only to be told after that it was put there to make the stand more difficult to shoot, the angle of it made it even worse for a left handed shooter. .

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Did a bit better today, 91 at Court Farm. Changed my approach a bit as I've been jumping/chopping in to stuff, coming back a little nearer the trap especially on slower & quartering birds, letting beat the gun then pull the trigger as soon as I go through the back edge.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

82 at Owls yesterday and 82 at Gunsite today, putting average scores together without shooting particularly well. Inconsistent yesterday; had a few stands where I'd miss 2 then today I had one horrific stand (a midi looper followed by a standard, 1/8) where I went way in front of the midi and...

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I thought it was a good shoot with no gimme stands, I missed ten over stands 2, 3, and 4 so was happy to recover to finish on 84. Uphill rabbit I left until as late as possible then rifled it as it slowed up.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Every time that ground has trap problems, I like shooting there but I lost a bit of faith with the amount of breakdowns and no-birds.

Humble pie for a happy bunny

Might be to some but it's well & truly alive in my household.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I did alright this weekend; 86 at Owls on Saturday for 2nd in A then 93 at Court Farm yesterday morning for 1st in A.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I started up again this weekend. Saturday at Kibworth just to get rid of as much rust as possible, did about 175 shells over the Sporting and 2 sportrap layouts.  First 20-30 shots I felt awful but was to be expected after last shooting March 21st. Managed to get a slot at Gunsite on Sunday...

    Shotkam

You'd be better off spending some money with a decent coach who will give you a good plan. Shooting is process based and it's no good filming yourself shooting a load of clays, then looking at what you missed and not knowing why.

    Gamebore DTL elite

I used them for quite a while for Sporting before I switched to Hull. Very good on the shoulder, got good kills at all distances.

    Shooting re-evaluation?

I was just getting back in to it after spending the winter shooting birds, scores were building nicely and I felt like I wasn't far off where I wanted to be again. I'll carry on as usual when this is all over, probably get some time with coach at some point as well.
